We assembled one of the most elite lists of business people in North America … and when they wouldn’t return our calls we hired these people instead.
Zoro T. Fox was born smack in the middle of a 7-day cruise (the one that goes to Cancun not the good one that goes to St. Thomas…). Within three days, Zoro had memorized the all-you-can-eat buffet schedule and amassed a collection of 78 jumbo plastic Mai Tai glasses. Mom and Dad were proud.
Following disembarkment, Zoro settled into a happy childhood in the Chicago ’burbs. Days were spent playing with friends in the swamp behind the abandoned gas station. Nights were spent hiding from coyotes, wolves, politicians, and other predatory swamp animals. Weekends were a special time saved for piano lessons and raiding the dumpster of Zoro’s favorite BBQ joint for riblet scraps.
Zoro’s mom (Marilyn Banderas-Schwarzenegger Fox) picked Zoro’s name straight out of the Spanish dictionary. Yep, “zorro” literally means “fox” in Spanish. The second “r” was dropped from Zoro’s name because his mom could only get her diaper bag monogrammed with 4 letters. Easy decision for mom—it really was a pretty awesome diaper bag.
As a teen, Zoro was diagnosed with severecartoonis caricaturitis which is a rare disease that causes a non-reversible change to an exaggerated cartoon-like form. Zoro’s giant fuzzy fingers killed his dream of becoming a pianist, and left Zoro with only two potential avenues to make a living—Bartender or Team Mascot for a young and hungry industrial supply company. Serving 384 oz. Miller Lites to desperate denizens in search of a sweet local watering hole in suburbia proved to be a short-lived career stop. Zoro’s fuzzy-fingered cartoon hands just couldn’t turn the spigot on the sunset blush wine box fast enough. That, and having to wear a full-body hair net was just plain embarrassing. Zoro’s lack of applicable skills and body hair issues made the decision to leave the Mid-Priced American Casual-Dining restaurant world an easy one. The glamorous life of a Team Mascot became Zoro’s destiny. Cool.
Most of Zoro’s days are spent staring at the Zoros’s interns while they work(editor’s note: this is totally true). But on occasion Zoro will throw out a first pitch at a baseball game, race a motorcycle, initiate a Nerf gun war, or give a kid a high-five at the zoo.
Three things you can count on in Zoro T. Fox’s world: the riblets are warm, the music is rockin’, and there are happy customers everywhere you look. It’s just a little slice of heaven on earth!
Kevin is our leader. He comes to us with a long history of making things awesome, so it’s a natural fit that he’s come to lead the charge on Team Awesome. Most recently he was kicking around across the pond and helping one of our sister companies ascend to greatness. Now he’s here, he’s ready to join the fun (and the softball team), and is going to make. it. happen. (We don’t know what, “it” is yet, but we’re certain Kevin is the guy to figure that out.)
When Kevin isn’t here at the foxhole, he likes to bike, play golf, and spend time with his kids. His two daughters, Claire and Audrey, are very excited to be coming to the United States and cannot wait to visit the foxhole. Kevin has lived all over the place. Among his favorite places to live are Chicago and the Netherlands. Tomato, tomato. (That really doesn’t translate well via text, does it?)
Kevin may be the first person in history to have filed a police report against a crab. This is not a joke: a crab tried to steal Kevin’s passport. When Kevin and his family were snorkeling in the Caribbean he had to shift focus for a moment to take care of some paperwork. His passport was dropped, fell through some slats on a dock, and a crab in the sand below grabbed Kevin’s passport and took it into his crab hole. The motivation here is clear: that crab was in the market for a crustacean vacation. Kevin now has the title of, “Passport Crab Wrestler,” because he retrieved his passport and stopped a crab from stealing his identity*
*No crabs were harmed in the retelling of this story.
Kevin always pays his debts.
Kate brings a varied and colorful range of experience to Zoro. She has a master’s degree in economics from the Warsaw School of Economics (yes, in Poland); she can play the violin, piano, and flute (no, not at the same time); and she can accurately pronounce bibimbap when she orders it at her favorite Korean restaurant. All that said, the thing that clinched her hiring at Zoro is the time she spent as a veterinary technician. Someone needs to care for Zoro T. Fox when he stubs his little paw or catches fox flu.
Kate enjoys antiquing, hiking, travel, animals, and sports. As a matter of fact, she says the most memorable moment of her life is when Liverpool won the UEFA Champions League Final in 2005. Yah, hold on, we are Googling it now too. Her big goal is to travel the U.S. in a camper, which sounds pretty good, but is gonna get pretty crazy with her family and three pets along for the ride. But we say go for it.
Kate hopes some day to share a mojito with Bill Murray.
Fiona is the type of person every office wishes they had. She’s smart, funny, kind, she has an awesome accent ... and she brings her dog on visits! Fiona doesn’t just love pooches: she trains them to act as monuments of comfort for people in need. Is there a better trait a person can have? If you find one: let us know.
Fiona hails from from the great Down Under and has brought with her a sense of charm, backwards-flowing toilets, and a dangerous talent for making scrambled eggs.
Fiona really wants to follow a Saharan salt caravan one day, but she’s not sure if they still exist. We’re still not really sure what a salt caravan is.
He is a good boy and we’re glad to have him.
Henry is the cutest thing in the office.
Ryan hails from Perrysburg , OH (Ohio Turnpike Exit #64) and he might just be the nicest guy in our warehouse. Actually, he’s the ONLY guy in our warehouse so he’s definitely the nicest. When he’s not foraging for elusive morel mushrooms (one of the most prized, wild, edible mushrooms in the world), he enjoys spending free time with his wife and son. He’s been known to scarf down an entire Lou Malnati’s pizza, but makes up for it with an extra tough workout.
Jennifer Payne is from Janesville, Wisconsin and contends that Wisconsin is the real state that looks like a mitten (take that, Michiganders). When she’s not at work, she likes to point out scientific inaccuracies of Jurassic Park and Land of the Lost. Dinosaurs are her passion, and she has a herd of them on her desk that she is working to mentally control to do her bidding.
In a past life—not literally, but figuratively—Jennifer worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and is CPR and Fire Safety Certified. In no particular order, she loves her laundry, family, and snowboarding. She is working to improve her posture, which has been warped by walking like a velociraptor around the office.
Ask Jennifer about dinos or solenoids. She’l have an answer for you, and a smile on her face.
What do working as a flight attendant, a squire, and majoring in vocal performance all have in common? They all help develop you to be the best dang customer service supervisor this side of the Alleghenies (really any side of the Alleghenies). Courtney’s wide work experience prepared him for his role, and Nature itself gifted him with the dulcet tones required to soothe the concerns of all who speak to him. It’s the kind of voice that, when you here him say “There, there” all your muscles relax and an incredible calm manifests from the depths of your very soul and all is right with the world. Of course, he never says “There, there” to customers, because that would be weird.
As a counterpoint to this side of him, Courtney also keeps a batarang at his desk, which is the definition of hardcore.
When Courtney isn’t at work he spends time with his wife and daughter, not sleeping, and experimenting with special effects makeup. He’s self-taught, and since he’s sleep deprived most of the time lately, it’s gotten a lot more…risky to get out the sculpting tools.
You think you’re good at karaoke? Go out with Courtney and see what you think after that.
Elizabeth is from Belvidere, IL, a town that was retroactively renamed for TV’s favorite goofy high school principal in the 90s. (True story.) She works as a case responder in our Customer Service department and has fielded cases from “what happened to my order?” to “if I solder the robot I’m building in my garage during a lightning storm, will it somehow gain sentience and take over the world?”
You can tell when Elizabeth is responding to your case from the shimmy-shimmy-cocoa-puff, shimmy-shimmy-pow rhythm of the words. That’s because in her off hours Elizabeth is a Zumba instructor, and that dancing energy taps its way out through her fingers when she’s here at Zoro. Aside from Zumba, Elizabeth likes to relax at home (as well as other people’s homes when she’s invited) and spend time with family. Someday soon she’ll go skydiving, and it will be appropriately epic.
We asked Elizabeth if we could use the word “chillax” in her bio, and she said no. It was the right call.
Lisa grew up in Nebraska, as well as the good ol’ Land of Lincoln. She works in our customer service department and loves to help her teammates grow professionally. As a trainer, that passion fits her position perfectly. Other CSAs even call her “peppy,” a far more preferable adjective than “salty” when describing personality traits. She also has a degree in graphic design and loves history, so she knows how to keep the whole picture in mind as she goes about her work with customers and colleagues.
Outside of work, Lisa loves to sleep whenever she can. She has a daughter in the toddler years, two ornery dogs, and a husband that keep her busy, so any amount of shut-eye she can get is appreciated. Lisa married her college sweetheart—we guess the real chemical reaction was between the two of them. (Sorry. It was right there...we had to say it.) Oh, and she has her black belt in Tae Kwon Do, so don’t mess with her.
Lisa has a Taco Bell addiction.
Isabel grew up in Skokie, a real baller suburb of Chicago. From there she went to Southern Illinois University and studied advertising. Her senior thesis “Would Someone Please Explain to Me What a Saluki Is” was a breakout success and formed the foundation of the type of funny content you see across the web. She works as a CSA, and is always trying to make our customers and her co-workers laugh. “Whistling while you work is stupid. Laughing is way better,” she says.
Outside of work, Isabel likes to dance, play golf, and play board games like Monopoly. She has created a dancing version of Monopoly called “Macrarenopoly” and is working to secure the rights to publish it. Isabel also has Austin-Powers Syndrome, and has difficulty controlling the volume of her voice. She loves to travel and has a particularly audacious goal of visiting every country in the world. First on her list: travel to Italy, and throw a coin in a wishing fountain. That will give her the luck she needs to visit everywhere else!
Isabel is a founding member of Zoro’s Leonardo Dicaprio Fan Club.
Kristy Koenen is a key member of our case response team in Janesville. Every day, she answers a series of customer queries with aplomb, and her goal is to provide the best customer service possible to any customer she works with. She came to Zoro with a lot of customer service experience from the restaurant and retail industries, as well as a tad bit of nursing training. She quickly learned that nursing wasn’t for her, but health care’s loss is our gain! As an added bonus, Kristy is a softball phenom, and learning that has put “form business softball team” at the top of some to-do lists.
Outside of work, Kristy also likes to play tennis. (Rule of thumb: Kristy’s pretty good playing any game with a racket or a bat.) She likes to watch a perfectly healthy amount of television, spoil her nieces and nephews, and bake. She’s also a great shot, and would be good to have around during a zombie apocalypse.
Kristy’s softball nickname is ICEBOX.
Just like the Von Erich family of pro wrestling fame, Russell Williams hails from Niagara Falls, NY. He works as a CSA in our Buffalo Grove office and came to Zoro with tons of customer service experience. A huge fan of pro wrestling, Russell imagines each and every call is a ladder match, and any problem a customer has requires him to climb that ladder and go for an epic body slam (in this analogy, epic body slam = satisfying resolution to the customer inquiry).
In addition to a bevy of wrestling knowledge and work experience, Russell provides our customer service group with laughs, on account of his sense of humor. “I’m pretty funny, I guess,” Russell says. Outside of work, he loves to watch movies like Star Wars, The Wizard of Oz & Halloween, read books written by Christopher Rice, cook, and play video games.
Fact: The Legend of Zelda is one of the best video games ever.
Toni grew up in Wisconsin and, having worked as a Customer Service Manager at Piggly Wiggly, she is used to working for a company with a somewhat silly animal mascot. She works on our case response team and does her darnedest to ensure that customers with inquiries get answers to their questions.
Outside of work, Toni has two children, two dogs, a fiance, and several siblings to keep herself busy. She loves to travel and to host events for her friends and family. One day she’ll have some property in the country, and that will be just for her.
Toni also loves to scrapbook, so if you have any paper stock suggestions, she’s all ears.
Colorado native Shannon boasts both an ability to sing and the capacity to laugh at herself. Depending on how well she sings, the latter could definitely come in handy. During her free time, she likes to get pedicures, which we guess don’t come out as she would like because she describes herself as “a work in progress.” Shannon and her husband have two children, a son and a daughter, and she says the one thing in the world she is most passionate about is her family. So lucky them. As further proof of her dedication to her family, Shannon donated a kidney to her sister. That is pretty incredible considering that most people wouldn’t let their sister borrow their curling iron.
Shannon says she would like to visit Ireland and try skydiving one day. How cool would it be to kill two birds with one stone and jump out of a plane flying over the Emerald Isle?! She also has stated a preference for the Outlander series of books, so we really want to caution her when she is in Ireland that there can be only one and not let anyone chop her head off.
Shannon has been working in customer service for 20 years now, so seriously, if you call us, ask for Shannon.
Nicole hails from Sparta. So you know she is like a fierce, armored warrior, totally carrying a sword, shield, and everything. It is really cool! She is like completely fierce and will defend the citadel until her last … wait, what? Sparta, Wisconsin? Oh. Never mind.
Nicole hails from Sparta, WI, seat of Monroe County, nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of western Wisconsin. So that is nice too. She enjoys watching movies in her spare time. (May we be so bold as to suggest maybe “300,” “Troy,” and “Prince of Persia” might be good films to watch, though?) She comes to Zoro with more than six years of customer service experience that will bring her much success here. She will not rest until your issues are fully resolved. She will fight bravely for YOUR GLORY! SHE WILL CONQUER ALL! SPARRRRTAAAA! Sorry, got carried away again.
Nicole says she is bringing a happy and fun attitude with her to Zoro. So you’ll probably notice that if you get her on the phone.
Brina is a Frisbee Golf aficionado (which is the official term designated for players of Frisbee Golf). She says she plans to “bring an edge to Zoro and spunk to make everyone’s day a little better.” We think that flinging a Frisbee around the office just above everyone’s head will certainly do the trick. Just watch out for the challenging dogleg turn past the men’s bathroom in the hallway leading to the warehouse. It’s killer. Par 4 for sure.
Brina was a dancer in her younger years and enjoys drawing, painting, and sculpting. Holy cow! She is a quadruple threat! Apparently she is a singer too, but only in the shower and she admits the words she makes up to songs are sometimes not even words. So maybe not so much with the singing, Brina.
Brina is looking forward to bringing smiles to your faces just like she did when she was a camp counselor one summer and helped the shy girl.
Ryan says one of his personal goals is to not be so sarcastic all the time, which probably is a good idea for a guy who handles calls from customers. “Oh right! Like the commercial grade GFCI receptacles you received are not the right color. Let me get right on that for you! Maybe I should escalate this to a manager?! Huh?! Is that what you want?!” That of course would never happen because Ryan also says he is a great people person. So let’s go with that.
He has a pretty large shoe collection of more than 20 pairs which he switches out throughout the day depending on his activity. He has his Customer Service shoes (sensible loafers), his Disc Golf shoes (tough athletic sneakers with Ty Cobb-style sharp cleats for putting the boot to his opponents), and his Ping Pong shoes (bright pink tap dance wingtips to throw off his opponents’ concentration). Ryan is hard-core. He recently jumped into the ocean for the first time while on vacation in Gulf Shores, Alabama, but did not specify what kind of shoes he was wearing at the time.
Ryan indicated his favorite beverage is “Dr. Pepper/Chocolate Milk” and we’re all trying to figure out if he only drinks it on a dare or if it’s really a thing.
Selene is ready for the zombie apocalypse. We know this because she told everyone but didn’t indicate how she was ready. Because the last thing you want to do is give away your secrets. It’s probably from all the “Walking Dead” she has watched, but it could be something else. We just don’t know. But for sure we are heading over to her desk if we hear groans of “Braaainnns” coming from reception.
When not hunting cannibal corpses, Selene likes puzzles, scrapbooking, and shopping … certainly some more mundane interests. At the age of 5 she was the unofficial interpreter of her school. A child prodigy with languages, she was often pulled out of class to interpret conversations between teachers and parents. Some of the more esoteric languages she mastered include Tagbanua, Scandoromani, Marathi, and Zimakani (look ’em up).
Selene says she wants to sky dive before she dies, which just so happens to be an excellent way to become a zombie.
Born in the bustling metropolis of Fairwater, Wisconsin, population 300, Margaret now lives in Janesville, Wisconsin, population, 63,000. So, she’s moving up in the world for sure. She is a wiz at arts, crafts, DIY, and other creative pursuits. Margaret says she likes to have fun with new hires. So watch out all you new hires, Margaret is gonna put oatmeal in your shoes, steal the W’s off your keyboards, and crazy glue your desk drawers shut.
Margaret lists her family members as Scotchy, Gemma, and Pat, one of which is her husband and the other two are cats, but we are not sure which is which. She loves to shop, read, and watch TV, and is full of positive energy and enthusiasm. She has a dream of one day owning her own consignment shop in which she will sell only Green Bay Packers gear. Margaret is passionate about helping people, which was a big selling point during her interview for a job in our Customer Service department. A real no-brainer for us.
Margaret dreams of one day visiting Charleston, South Carolina, which is really not that far away, but whatever.
Chynna once jumped off a 35-ft. cliff at Rick’s Café in Jamaica, so you can be assured that she will have no problem diving headfirst into any issue if you call Customer Support about a Zoro.com order. During the call, she might scream, “Ahhhgghghgh!!!” but don’t get alarmed, she’s just flashing back to Jamaica. Incidentally, Chynna would like you to know that 35 feet looks much higher than 35 feet when you’re looking straight down into the crystal blue of the deep, deep ocean. When she isn’t cliff diving, she loves to find a good show on Netflix and cuddle up with her crazy mutt, Clementine.
Chynna sports a handful of tattoos that honor some of popular culture’s most influential icons such as The Beatles, The Wizard of Oz, and her grandpa. He might not be as famous as the others, but he was pretty awesome. Her favorite thing in the entire world is the aforementioned Clementine. Not a day goes by when she doesn’t bring a smile to her face. We’re not sure if Chynna means she brings a smile to Clementine’s face or her dog makes her smile, so we will just leave that sentence ambiguous. Works either way, probably.
Chynna plans her day around a good glass of wine. Don’t we all.
After spending seven years in the United States Air Force, Eric is ready to be your wingman. He’s a guy’s guy with simple tastes—well-done steak, reliable pocket knives, flannel shirts, and strong, black coffee. Even the name of his hometown, Manlius, New York, is the epitome of masculinity.
When he’s not enjoying the outdoors — kayaking and biking — Eric teaches his three grandkids the fine art of whittling. His future goal is to bike the 150-mile Great Allegheny Passage. And then turn around and bike it again. And then bike to Hawaii. I’m glad he’s on our (and your) side.
Distant relative Levi Pease’s earned the nickname “father of the turnpike” while driving his Wells Fargo stagecoach. Tough act to follow.
The luck of the Irish is fervent in Kelly. She boasts a strong Irish heritage and is proud to let everyone know that she has, in fact, been to the homeland.
Among Kelly’s interests are live music, swimming, and camping. She really likes to look out at nature and soak up the sun (when it’s out). She also loves to look out for her team here at Zoro as they answer any customer question under the sun.
When Kelly isn’t busy saluting the sun, she loves to hang out with her dogs, Mick and Rocco. If you were thinking to yourself, “Did she name Mick after Mick Jagger?” you’d be entirely correct! Hopefully she gets some satisfaction out of watching Mick strut down the street when she takes him for a walk.
Kelly reaaaaaaaalllllly likes “The Boondock Saints.” Yep, you guessed it, Rocco is named after Rocco.
During the day Michele acts as one of our customer service supervisors. At night: she’s super mom! Michele’s life revolves around dinosaurs and firetrucks, but mostly for the purpose of appeasing her son, Lucas.
Michele hails from New York, but has settled down in Wisconsin.
She loves working on perfecting her cooking skills, going to the park, and watching professional cycling. Michele participated in RAGBRAI a few years ago and she’s still itching to bike all over the place.
If given a superpower, Michele would love to be able to teleport.
Michele got married on the Jersey Shore (way before that Snooki character showed up).
Time to learn a-boat Tammy, who, coincidentally, loves boats! Tammy and her husband love to sail their boat all over The Great Lakes having great times. Tammy is the oldest of 5 and has taken her family-oriented upbringing into adult life with her. Here at Zoro, Tammy helps to supervise Zoro’s biggest family, Customer Service!
Other than boating, Tammy and her husband, Tom, love to travel. They’re planning a trip to Ireland soon! Hopefully the luck of the Irish will be with them. Tammy has a black lab named Kota who coincidentally also loves boating—how cool is that? Kota wants to know if she gets to go to Ireland, too. She may be barking up the wrong shamrock.
Tammy loves watching movies. She said she much prefers movies to books because paper cuts are terrible. (We get it, Tammy. Paper cuts ARE terrible.)
Amber is our pioneer customer service supervisor. She was our first supervisor up in Janesville, Wisconsin and is now our first supervisor to go mobile! She lives in Angle Inlet, Minnesota, which is basically Canada. She literally has to go through Canada to get back to the rest of the U.S.
She has a strong love of cheese. So strong is this love that she named her dog Colby. He’ll brie a really gouda dog! Amber also loves, loves, loves spreadsheets and multitasking. We’re glad someone does.
In Amber’s free time she loves to fish, read, and she spends tons of time cooking. She is a huge fan of fantasy football. Her most recent team was named, “Forte Shades of Grey” … yowza!.
There is an island near Amber called “Big Island,” they were really trying hard the day they named that.
Brittany is one of Zoro’s resident team players. In addition to being, literally, a great team player on Zoro’s customer service team, she also used to play on Zoro’s kickball team and is part of the new volleyball team being formed! She is also a HUGE Packers fan. Her love for the Packers runs so deep that she and her husband celebrate their wedding anniversary each year at a Packers game.
When Brittany isn’t busy being our kickball hero, she appreciates good ole’ relaxation. She hates to admit it, but she watches trashy TV. Yes, she loves the Real Housewives of ANYWHERE. When she really, wants to relax she heads over to Cocoa Beach, Florida and kicks back with a strawberry margarita (salt, not sugar) on the beach.
Finally, when she can’t hang in Florida or catch up on “The Real Housewives,” Brittany enjoys hanging out at Target … who doesn’t?
Brittany’s favorite mexican food is taco salad. We’d like to taco about that.
It’s the Dawn of a new era in Zoro customer service, and we’re lucky to have Dawn in this new Dawn. Dawn comes to us from a background in makin’ stuff and is now here to keep customers satisfied. She loves to bake, loves hot dogs, and is a big movie fan. Dawn wants everyone to know she’s the reason they’re still making Transformers movies. She goes to see them. She’s the one. It’s her.
Dawn has a 4 year old named Abigail, and it is important to note that Abigail is what Dawn calls a “true princess.” Abigail was Captain America for Halloween this year and requested the rest of her family also be Captain America. She is also, apparently, the most dramatic thing we’ll ever meet. (Dawn’s words, not ours!)
Among Dawn’s talents are long-loom knitting, welding, and compassion. She’ll attest that she can knit you the “world’s worst looking blanket” and that you wouldn’t want her to weld anything for you … but she could. The compassion part she’s actually great at.
Every Sunday you can find Dawn and her crew gettin’ their family breakfast on. Aww, yeah…
Angela has joined the leadership team in Zoro Customer Service and is here to cheer on the squad! Before coming here she was a cheerleading coach for 12 years (and some other things) and has really brought the pep.
One of Angela’s passions in life is Stone Cold Steve Austin. That’s right, it’s 3:16 always. She loves him and wants everyone to know. She also loves grocery shopping. Her favorite store is Schnucks and she was very candid about the fact that she both buys things she doesn’t need and has things she doesn’t need in bulk. We’d like to think she’s just prepared.
Angela knits … sort of. She has a step son (Zayden), two puppies (Fiona and Ricky), and she just bought a house! Her favorite thing to do in her new house is to cuddle up with Fiona and Ricky and enjoy a nice glass of Pinot Grigio.
Angela’s favorite way to eat a ribeye is grilled to medium rare. This is the correct way to prepare a steak.
Kayla is one of our customer service leads and she is da bomb. She’s one of the coolest people you’ll ever meet and will always leave you walking away saying, “Whoa. She’s awesome.” Kayla has two cats, Buttercup and Nay Nay. She doesn’t know how they were nay-named, but she loves them all the same.
In Kayla’s free time she loves to bake. She makes all kind of incredible looking (and tasting) pastries/desserts and sometimes brings them to the office! Don’t be surprised if Kayla disappears at some point to start a bakery, her pastries are puff-perfect.
She also really enjoys working out and spending time with her family. Kayla has a 7-year-old named Jax and spends all kinds of time hanging with her boy. It is important to know that Kayla loves boiled green beans.
Kayla has some of the coolest tattoos you’ll ever see.
Dana loves the outdoors. She loves anything that will get her outdoors. She’s part of our case response team, so that means she’s kickin’ out emails left and right to answer customer questions, but don’t be surprised if she’s doing this from the hammock in her backyard.
She comes to us with 9 years of experience specifically in helping customers with questions about tools, so it isn’t a surprise to anyone that she’s killin’ it here. Dana is also a huge Brewers fan, loves bowling, and wants a boat.
In the future, Dana would like to go on vacation to Europe. She can’t be more specific than that right now, but somewhere in Europe, or maybe New Zealand. She also loves all food. When we asked what food she likes she said, “the food kind of food.” We like your style, Dana.
Dana has been to almost every brewery in Milwaukee. Jealousy: activate!
Breanna is one of our customer service leads and she’s pretty amazing. We asked her what she likes to do and she said, “Eh, I’m really boring, I don’t really do anything.” And then oh-so-casually mentioned that she likes to ride ATVs in the jungle. Not even just on dunes … in the jungle. So, you know, that’s pretty awesome.
When Breanna isn’t riding ATVs in the jungle, she has a 4-year-old daughter, Adelynn, who keeps her busy. They love to go to the park to go for walks … but Breanna ends up carrying Adelynn and Adelynn’s babies. It’s a work out, but Breanna is fit for the task.
Breanna goes on vacation every 6 months and it’s always somewhere tropical and sunny. Her favorite thing to do is to hang on the beach with a Bahama Mama.
Breanna likes to swim with dolphins. No big deal.
Zindy is awesome. She’s 4’11 but still loves to play volleyball, loves to go on nature walks, and wishes to someday canoe. Canoe believe that? She has a son, 3 cats, and a german shephard. Zindy’s first and foremost love in this world is pizza. Specifically pepperoni pizza, but all pizza.
Sometimes things get put into these bios that sound like they aren’t true. Sometimes those things aren’t true. Please understand that the following statement is 100% true:
Zindy can eat a Big Whopper Meal in under a minute. She has timed herself and now wears the title of Burger Queen with pride.
ZIn her ideal world, Zindy will one day visit Australia to hang out at the zoo Steve Irwin used to work at. Crikey!
Zindy believes she got hired because her name starts with a Z. ...No, Zindy, it was because you’re amazing.
Sarah really loves elephants. Like, a lot. In her dream vacation she will pack up a trunk and go to an elephant sanctuary so that she can play with baby elephants. This sounds awesome and we’re jealous of your future vacation, Sarah.
When Sarah isn’t busy fantasizing about dream vacations, she’s a CSA here at Zoro. She’s a rockstar at answering and and all kinds of questions our customer may have. It makes sense that she’s come into a role answering questions, she has 3 children who ask questions all the time.
Sarah is proud to report that she has cut the cord and no longer has a television service subscription. She loves to get her Netflix on. She loves environmental documentaries, other things that make us sad about humanity, and Orange is the New Black.
Sarah uses pineapples as cups. Her favorite thing to do is drink gin and cranberry out of a pineapple. This is just too cool.
Margo comes to Zoro after having been raised on a farm. Her family farms corn, soybeans, wheat, pigs, and chickens. We cannot comment on Margo’s awesome listening skills coming from having to listen to pigs and chickens yap and snort all day, but we’re glad she has them. Margo loves talking to our customers, sharing stories with them, and learning from each and every person she talks to.
When it comes to fun, Margo loves to go 4 wheeling. She owns and ATV and loves to hit the great outdoors with all four wheels raring to go. She also really enjoys fishing, or … pretty much anything out in the sun.
Bentley, Margo’s shit tzu, is probably the cutest thing we’ve ever heard about. Margo says that Bentley is all about protecting the family chickens … and the chickens are into that. The 300lb pigs are also obedient to Bentley. If you wanted to just take a moment and visualize a 16lb dog herding 300lb pigs, you are welcome to. Bentley sounds like a really special fella.
Margo’s coworkers refer to her as a diva or princess sometimes. She’s diva-nently okay with that.
Emily is one of Zoro’s resident theatre-lovers. She has a strong love of theatre, musical theatre, and pretty much anything that happens on a stage. She doesn’t just love theatre, however, she’s also an aspiring actress! She performed in various productions all throughout highschool and has even performed at the Overture Center for the Arts.
We’re assuming that Emily’s pleasant demeanor and chipper phone-voice comes from all of that singing and dancing she’s been doing. When Emily isn’t busy chatting our customers up about her idol, Lin-Manuel Miranda, she loves to read. She’s a huge Harry Potter fan and is happy to talk to anyone about Harry Potter at any given moment. It is important to note here that Emily is a Hufflepuff, that’s probably why she’s so kind and giving on the phones.
Emily has two cats at her family home, and she says they’re probably main coones? Or probably part main coon? She just knows that they’re fat and lazy. Emily and her boyfriend, Kyle, are hoping to get two cats and name them Doctor and Rory. Does that mean her future cats are going to be time travelers?
Emily would someday like to be a Targaryen.
Sarah has a chainsaw hanging from the ceiling in her living room. Okay, now that we got that out of the way, you have some idea of what kind of person Sarah is: awesome. Sarah is one of our customer service leads here at Zoro and she has a passion for bringing fun into the workplace. Sarah loves going to horror conventions, loves playing video games, and has 5 cats. We would be foolish to not mention the names of all 5 of her cats, because they are hilarious. Sarah’s cats are named:
After talking about her cats for a while, Sarah mentioned that she also has a human child. Her human child is a genius, a trumpet player, and someday hopes to be an astrophysicist. Pretty awesome goals for an 11-year-old.
All of Sarah’s interest indicate one thing: if you get a chance to talk to Sarah on the phone, take advantage of it! She’s super nice, super cool, and can have an in depth conversation with you about the parallels between Daenerys Targaryen and Mercy from Overwatch.
Sarah plays an undead priest in the World of Warcraft, but she’s no Leeeeroyyy Jenkins.
Cailyn hales from the great town of Brodhead, WI. She described Broadhead as being the type of place where everybody knows everybody’s business, but she loved growing up there. We’re happy to have her here at Zoro helping us learn more about everybody’s business! (But not in the gossipy way, in the customer insights way.)
In Cailyn’s perfect world she would have been whisked away to Neverland by now. She is a huge Peter Pan fan and will forever live in jealousy of Wendy. Cailyn is trying to indoctrinate her 10 month old daughter, Harper, into loving Peter Pan by making her playroom Neverland themed. Fingers crossed!
Cailyn loves running, loves London (and WILL go there someday), and loves the Chicago Cubs. She cried, screamed, and laughed when they won. Not specifically in that order.
Bologna is an awkward name for an awkward food.
Hannah is a transaction specialist here at Zoro and that means that she specializes in … well, transactions. She was born in Edgerton, WI and has lived in Janesville most of her life. When Hannah isn’t busy processing transactions and helping things glide along smoothly here, she really enjoys napping.
In addition to napping, Hannah is a huge Packers fan. She also really enjoys the beach, but there aren’t any beaches in Wisconsin (not the warm kind, anyway) so she’s mostly indoors fantasizing about the beach these days. She also likes to help her boyfriend, Sean, work on his drift car.
Hannah is obsessed with Chopped. She loves watching Chopped and predicting what’s going to happen before it does. “Of course your puff pastry is undercooked, you put it in the oven with 5 minutes left on the clock!” Hannah would never be chopped, however, because she has paid close attention to the mistakes made by chefs on the show.
Monique comes to us after a long stint in the Army. Her actual job was in automated logistics, but she ended up being the go-to administrative professional for her colonel and some sergeants. Her husband is an army “lifer” and currently works as a recruiter. Monique wanted to join the military since childhood and is glad to have found someone else who was passionate about serving.
Now that Monique is here at Zoro, she’s making our customers lives easier day-by-day. She knocks out customer emails almost as quick as they’re sent! She is also a valuable member of Spike Tyson, Zoro’s volleyball team. Monique has been playing volleyball for years and we’re excited that she’s setting us up for success.
Monique also really enjoys bass fishing tournaments, they’re reely fun. Monique is part of a group that runs for children and adults with disabilities called I Run 4. This group donates money to charity that their racers earn by completing runs.
One time a customer called and gave Monique a tarot reading over the phone.
Cori is one of our customer service agents and she’s on a mission: she’s currently studying to become a forensic psychologist. If you’re talking to her on the phone and feel like you’re being analyzed, you probably are, but don’t sweat it. In addition to studying psychology and criminology, Cori also likes to paint and throw bowls. We mean “throw bowls” as in throw them on a pottery wheel. She doesn’t just grab a bunch of bowls and throw them against stuff, that would be silly.
When it comes to sports, Cori is a huge Peyton Manning fan. She doesn’t care that he’s retired, he’s still her favorite. She is also a huge Milwaukee Bucks fan and is excited to have recently gotten into basketball.
Cori has two cats, Bri and Rue. She loves her pets and is happy to spend whatever time she can with them. We wonder if she spends time psychologically analyzing her cats? That would Bri really Rue-d.
Cori loves cheeseburgers more than anything in this world.
Liz is a true free spirit. One of the things she likes to do is take random road trips. She’ll just get in her car, drive, and spend the weekend wherever the car runs out of gas. Okay, okay, there’s usually a little more planning that goes into it than that, but you get the gist of it: Liz is fun. Once she decided to chemistry and then came to the realization that she hates chemistry.
Here at Zoro, Liz is into making our customers’ days with her charm, wit, and perky demeanor. By night, Liz turns into an evil mastermind trying to best her friends at various board games. She also enjoys writing and wants everyone to know that the name of her future memoir is, “Meh, Close Enough.”
In Liz’s next vacation she plans to visit the cat cafe in Edinburgh, Scotland. Supposedly there is a cat there, named Zeus, who will come steal the cream off of your latte if you’re not watching closely enough. Liz doesn’t like cream, so she’s happy to invite Zeus over.
Kayla comes to us after a long career of hammock-drink-holder development. She has been trying for years to create a can holder that will sit in a hammock without spilling, but it never worked out. It’s okay, we’re thrilled to have her here at the foxhole!
She really likes to hike, really likes anything outside, and is super duper into disc golf. Basically, if it involves throwing a frisbee into a basket: she’s into it. We just hope she’s not throwing frisbees around the office too much.
Kayla has a son, Jordy, who she named after Jordy Nelson. So, spoilers: Kayla is a pretty big Packers fan. She’s also very, very competitive and is ready to help Zoro’s volleyball team win everything.
Kayla wishes to someday have super strength.
Desiree grew up in Byron, Illinois watching her Dad drag race, so it only makes sense that she’s fast and speedy when she’s helping out our customers. Desiree doesn’t drag race herself, but she does love riding motorcycles. She currently rides a GSXR 600 and loves to go riding with her brother.
When it comes to sports, Desiree is a die-hard Packers fan. She is in love with Randall Cobb and wants everyone to know. Cobb on now, he’s great! She also goes to opening day for the Brewers every year with her Dad. One time he brought a bottle of Bacardi with them at 7:55 a.m., we’re not judging, but that’s pretty hardcore.
Desiree loves R&B music and loves, loves, loves dance movies. She also really loves her cat, Princess Fiona. Desiree was not a cat person before Princess Fiona came into her life, but now she’s at Princess Fiona’s beck and call.
Desiree loves Portillo’s. This is the correct way to feel about Portillo’s.
Lea is our customer service clerk and she sure is great at what she does! She comes to Zoro with a wealth of experience, ranging from: doggy day care attendant to security guard … and everything in between (whatever that may be). Lea loves the outdoors, loves hiking, and is obsessed with plants.
In Lea’s garden she has a not-so-humble array of amazing things growing. We’re jealous. She has an avocado tree. Yes, you read that right. Lea has an avocado tree. IN WISCONSIN. She likes growing almost any plant she gets her hands on so she can seed how it turns out. She also grows herbs. We hope she mint to do that.
When it comes to non-plant-based-food, Lea loves pizza, any kind of mexican food, and ice cream. So, some basic staples. Her favorite toppings for pizza are pepperoni and pineapple. We guess we know where she stands in that debate.
Lea likes to read suspense novels, because … wait for it …
Arie is a CSA here at Zoro and she really loves making a difference for our customers. She used to be a certified nursing assistant, but she wanted a change and choose to come help us care for our customers. When she isn’t here caring for our customers Arie really enjoys listening to music, traveling, and drinking wine. Her ideal night is spent curled up on the couch, a glass of moscato in-hand, with a Sam Hunt record playing.
It is also probably cool to mention that Arie has blue hair. She’s fun like that. She also has some of the best-named pets ever in history. She has a pitbull named Nugget, another pitbull named Zoey, and a cat named Snuff.
Arie really wants to go out west. Ideally California, Hawaii, or the Bahamas. Somewhere tropical. Pretty much any place she can be on an island and enjoy the sun.
Arie’s son is named Holden. Is she Holden out for a hero?
Alicia is one of Zoro’s resident singers. She loves show choir, was on a show choir scholarship for a while, and always has a song in her heart. Aww… She also really loves helping customers out at Zoro and is proud to work here. We’re proud to have you here, Alicia! Alicia comes to us after a long career as a pharmacy technician and is excited to be talking to people again.
When Alicia isn’t busy singing Defying Gravity, or trying to help one of our customers learn how to defy gravity, she really loves fishing. In fact, she really loves a lot of things related to the water. She loves swimming, too, and in her dream home she would have a jacuzzi tub with a TV set up next to it. She claims that she would evolve into a mermaid if this happened.
In Alicia’s next life endeavor she plans to purchase a purple 1968 Volkswagen Beetle. She is passionate about this pursuit to the point that she actually has a purple Volkswagen Beetle tattooed on her foot.
Alicia is addicted to “How to Get Away with Murder” … Should we be worried?
Dorothy comes to us from the mother ship but wishes she could have followed the yellow brick road to Zoro (bet you can’t guess what her favorite movie is…) Dorothy is super passionate about stopping animal cruelty; it’s no joke – she’s vegan! On a regular basis, she visits and babysits 5 cats (Puss, Cookie, Hunter, Geronimo and Jaws) and 2 dogs (Mazzy and Crowley). Dorothy is crafty in an artistic way and when she’s not catching up on The Big Bang Theory episodes, she cheering on her favorite sports team, the Chicago Blackhawks. Let’s Go Hawks!
Dorothy describes herself as crafty in an artistic way – even when it comes to food. Not only does she think sushi is delicious, she appreciates the presentation of it on the plate.
Kent’s job here at Zoro is to improve the processes our Customer Service group follows when helping you. It takes logic, straight thinking, and clear-headedness. So you might question why we hired someone for this job who is a huge warm-weather freak but has lived in Wisconsin his whole life. What you don’t know, however, is that Kent is a pilot, he is a certified personal trainer, and he has four rescue pets (three cats and a dog). So, we just couldn’t pass up a renaissance man like that.
Like a good life-long Wisconsinite, Kent’s favorite food is buffalo wings, which we assume he enjoys most with a beer outside when it is warm (the weather, not the beer). He also likes 80’s big-hair bands and his favorite teams are the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks. So, yah, dyed-in-the-wool Cheesehead for sure. Kent’s goal is to retire to the Florida Keys and travel to Hawaii and Fiji. That will more than make up for a life spent up here in the frozen tundra. Not so sure how strong the TV reception is in Fiji for local Wisconsin channels so he can still watch the Bucks play, but that is a process he can work on improving later.
We’ve already had a couple of complaints from the Customer Service department about Kent turning up the thermostat to 94 degrees.
In addition to being a leader in our Customer Service department, Carley leads Zoro in boisterous nonsense. What do expect from someone who plays violin and softball? You should see her do both at the same time, it’s pretty hysterical. Born and raised in Zoro border town Arlington Heights, IL, Carley enjoys kick boxing, reading, swimming, and taking photographs of her adorable niece and her yorkie Pnut, whom we assume is also adorable.
She is a former Student Ambassador to Australia but flatly denies having anything to do with the notorious international incident: “The Nutella Caper.” Carley received her BA in Journalism and is a certified paralegal (i.e., she is a giant stickler for grammar). She’s also a self-professed workaholic with an appetite for jumping out of planes. So you can just imagine that she’ll probably be proofing spreadsheets on the way down.
Seriously though, if you call our Customer Service department, you will definitely be well taken care of. If you get Carley on the phone, just don’t badmouth the Chicago Blackhawks. Things will get ugly fast.
Ask Carley about pizza. Seriously, she mentioned it twice on her company bio information form.
Dan would like everyone to know that Vance Joy’s “Riptide” is an easy song to play on the ukulele. The jigs up, Vance. Dan is coming for your gig. When Dan isn’t busy breaking down the secrets of the music industry, he’s a process improvement analyst here in our customer operations department! Basically, he looks at stuff and finds ways to make it better for our customers.
“I’m old and weird” is how Dan started out telling us about himself, so we think he’ll fit in great. Except that he’s … not old, and … not weird. He’s just a nice, cool, humble dude. He’s also so not-old and so not-weird that he’s raring to join the Zoro Softball team and loves to golf with his Zoro buddies. He also wants everyone to know he likes beer. (Good call, Dan.)
Dan loves audiobooks and wants everyone to know that the audiobook haters are wrong. He likes to listen to non-fiction, mostly, and specifically business books. He used to play piano and has since evolved into more rock band stuff, such as guitar, drums, and bass.
Wine is one of Dan’s passions. He’s a big fan of all reds, but specifically Pinot Noir. Wine not?
Powered solely by a team of Dachshunds and an ever increasing addiction to coffee, Chase drives the Zoro team forward. With sayings like “Those boxes aren’t going to ship themselves” and “why is my coffee cold?”, he continues to be a motivating force in the office. Despite his injuries from ’Nam, short for Name that Tune–it´s a good story, ask him some time. Chase has had the intestinal fortitude to figure out the magical mysteries of the interweb, and by “figure out”, I mean totally figured out.
Having played long snapper for the Chicago Bears for about 23.7 years prior to joining Zoro, under the lengthy tutelage of long snapping coaching legend George Halas, he has a unique appreciation for the details involved with “spinning the ball”. In a strange twist the Dos Equis man is actually based on Chase’s life.
Chase’s favorite tool, the speed wrench, is a frequent topic in the professional MRO and DIY community. Zoro markets them as hammers, but Chase refuses to call them that. Chase describes how to use them in his latest blog entry entitled “Fixing stuff you need fixing”, an excerpt “First step get yourself a big heavy speed wrench to fix all your problems. Applications: driving screws, light bulb removal, delicate plumbing fittings, keys locked in car, squirrel problems.”
He also enjoys searching on The Google and haircuts.
Don’t let him fool you, Jason is a master manipulator—of information. Under the guise of unassuming suburban father with safe interests like “craft beer” and “yard work” this man harbors a dark secret. In truth, Jason is a SEM assassin. His past professions as an engineer, options trader, and software QA analyst prepared him for this dangerous role. Armed with Google Analytics and operating under the cover of inscrutable charts and endless Excel spreadsheets, you will hear Jason whispering mantras to himself, focusing his chi: “Unga bunga.” “Long tail.” “Be the ball.”
These words mean little to his co-workers, who are confounded by his work. But they all benefit. For he protects them from the inevitable onslaught of competition and keeps inefficient campaign spend at bay. His family is also adorable.
Jason wishes people around the office would learn the difference between all the TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms) that he uses everyday, but would settle for them knowing just one of them. Unfortunately, that's still unlikely.
Kelsey grew up in the cornfields of Merrill, MI, statistically speaking more likely surrounded by #2 Yellow Corn and not some extra sweet sweet corn. She stayed in Mittenland for college, attending Michigan State, and basically moved to the Chicago area and started working at Zoro at the same time. “This state isn’t shaped like any article of clothing at all,” she said. We’ve skewed her perception of just how awesome Chicagoland is. Because Chicago is great and all, but Zoro is even greater.
Kelsey works on our paid search team, identifying ways for people that are searching for our wares to find us. It’s a big world out there on the other side of your phone or computer screen. Kelsey's job is to try and make it a bit smaller.
When Kelsey has some free time, she particularly enjoys doing...nothing. (Nothing is the best.) That saying “something is better than nothing,” is just not true. But when she clears her busy nothin’-doin’ schedule, she likes to sew (she’s been doing that since she was 5). As a recent college grad, she’s still learning how to survive without a midday nap. If “nap time” ever pops up in our suggestion box, we’ll know the recommendation came from Kelsey.
Nothing. Still the best.
An avid video gamer and sitter-arounder-at-coffee-shops, Jason enjoys Mexican food, Batman, and breweries (not necessarily in that order). Fortunately, he married someone who shares his interests and has been able to continue his search for the perfect craft lager without interruption. His deep knowledge of eCommerce, channel marketing, and pie tins has brought him to Zoro where he is excited to fit in and share his knowledge of creating delightful Forest Friends Fondant Cupcakes.
Jason is a world-traveler-wannabe, with his sights set on Paris and Italy. He’ll probably change his tune when he realizes that French and Italian beers aren’t really a thing, though. In the meantime, this life-long Chicagoan can enjoy the multitude of coffee and suds shops around town.
Jason takes exception that “Batman” was mentioned in his bio instead of the “Dark Knight.”
Art is one of Zoro’s resident fitness fanatics. If it involves running, jumping, climbing, skiing, swimming, fear, or any form of adrenaline: Art is all about it. He’s also all about keeping Zoro’s eCommerce channels fit and healthy.
Art is from a little place called Moldova. But he isn’t ova Moldova. He still goes back every now and then to make sure things are ship shape. He once had to explain to the whole company both that Moldova exists and where it is … we just weren’t sure. (Sorry, Art!)
The latest adrenaline rush Art is getting addicted to is adventure racing. This involves being dropped in an unknown location and “racing” to complete the race and not die. Really. That’s the goal. Sound’s fun, Art … We hope you make it.
Art also likes industrial climbing … is this why he’s chosen a career involving industrial supplies?
Before we get started here, please note that Kylie S. is NOT Kelsey S. Please especially note this if you are a Zoro employee and have mixed them up in the past. (Most of us have.)
Kylie loves traveling and is always ready and willing to go anywhere warm. A few of the places she’s been recently include: the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana, Cabo, Key West, Orange County, Hawaii, and Jamaica. Basically any place that you can get a killer mojito and a tan.
In addition to traveling, Kylie LOVES the Chicago Cubs. If she ever takes a random day off in the middle of the summer, look for her in the bleachers at Wrigley alongside her Zoro crew. It’s also important to note that Kylie was present in 2012 when the UK Wildcats won the NCAA Championship. Go Cats!
Kylie is trying really hard to learn how to cook. If you see her it’s totally appropriate to yell, “What’s cookin’!?” and run away with reckless abandon.
Nick went to school for an earth sciences career in meteorology and geography. However, upon failing Calculus 4, he realized he would be better suited for a career in eCommerce. So here he is! His new goal was to have a career “doing something for the internet” and now he is doing just that. Dreams really do come true.
When asked, “What’s your favori…” Nick immediately just shouted, “SCI-FI EVERYTHING!!” Little did he know we were asking about favorite food type, but we’ll take it. Nick is so much a fan of all things sci-fi that he admits to liking both "Star Wars" and "Star Trek." Whoa. He also loves “Firefly," "Battlestar Galactica," “Stargate," and "Doctor Who." So, basically: he wasn’t kidding about the sci-fi thing. The sci-fi love doesn’t stop at filmed media, he also loves to read. His favorite series is “The Dark Tower Series” by Stephen King.
Nick is also a huge fan of video games. *pause for shock* Among Nick’s favorites are, Undertale, The Witcher series, Legend of Zelda, and the Mass Effect trilogy. Nick states, “When it comes to my hobbies, the less physical activity required, the better.”
It is a true fact that Nick has been to a wedding where a keg was tapped in lieu of a wedding cake being cut. Where’s our invite?
Nick has probably been to a foreign country.
Shawn is the kind of guy who really appreciates the little things. He’s recently gotten into photography and he says he likes to take pictures of “random, normal stuff.” He really tries to capture the beauty of everyday life. Awwwwww.
Waking up at 4 a.m. to head down to the local soccer bar is the perfect Saturday morning for Shawn. He says that Guinness is a nice way to start one’s day, and that nothing is better than supporting his beloved Chelsea. Someday he plans to take a trip to London to see Chelsea play live. Chelsea must be really important for him to incite a desire to wake up so early.
Shawn’s real passion is at Portillo’s. He claims that the scent inside of any Portillo’s is the best and that it’s likely the reason he’s still in Chicago. We get it, it does smell great.
If you ever want to talk old school hip hop with someone: Shawn is your guy.
Lisa is part of our searchandising team and is partially responsible for inventing that word. She’s a real go-getter and brings a lot of charm, humor, and Wisconsin trivia to the office. She’s one of our resident ex-Wisconsiners, but still wears her cheese head with pride. Literally. To the office. Like, most days. She and Sarah F. regularly fight about who is the bigger Packers Fan … it is unclear who is winning at this point in time.
When Lisa isn’t busy rearranging the taxonomy for cheese and beer on Zoro, she really likes to run up mountains. This sounds tiring and unnecessary, but Lisa is a real go-getter. She says she likes to find (not hunt) bears and moose in the wild. She found a bear butt, once, and we’re not sure where the rest of the bear was …
Lisa’s husband also likes looking for bears and moose, so that’s convenient. Lisa is just doing this searchandising thing until she’s able to fund her true passion: potato farming. She and her husband wish to someday own a farm called, “Brett Farm,” in honor of Brett Favre.
What happened to the rest of that bear that Lisa ran into? Maybe we don’t want to know
Like a detective in his favorite crime novels, Chris works to solve great mysteries — like how to make it easier to find products on Zoro.com. He knows stuff like tree testing, taxonomy, and long tail. (Rest easy, Zoro T. Fox, it doesn’t mean what you think).
Chris claims he’s “never met a stranger.” This is probably because he’s from Indiana, where everyone is super friendly. Chris and his wife are also hoping to adopt children soon. We wish him luck when it comes time to teach them how to spell “searchandising” with those little letter blocks.
Chris has an identical twin brother. We have yet to determine if he is an evil twin or just the regular kind.
Why did the car guy cross the road? To show off his super sick, tricked out Ford Taurus to everyone at Chili’s. Duh. Marcin comes to us from Mars, which is totally out of this world!
Sometimes Marcin spells his name Martin. One time he explained why sometimes it’s Marcin and other times it’s Martin, but we weren’t paying attention. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If there’s one thing to take away from Marcin, it’s that he’s totally obsessed with Winged Hussars and wants to be one when he grows up.
Marcin’s favorite song is TiK ToK by Ke$ha.
Cecilia loves, loves, loves traveling. So far she’s been to Argentina, Chile, Canada, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. And she plans to adventure and see more of the world … soon. With her on these adventures she brings a strong sense of searchandising know-how and her french poodle, Romeo.
Romeo and Cecilia both hale from the great state of Michoacan, Mexico and like to head back to the motherland regularly. Romeo is a total Mama’s boy and needs to go with Cecilia wherever she goes.
In addition to traveling, Cecilia also really likes romantic comedies. This explains why she has the soundtrack from, “Definitely, Maybe” playing in the office all day every day.
All three of Cecilia’s siblings are in the Marines. Marines, eCommerce merchandising super star, pretty much the same thing.
John is the guy in the office who will do anything to win a gift card. Most recently, he won our Halloween contest (2016) when he came dressed as famed Zoro Employee, Dan. John’s love of gift cards is nothing compared to his love of craft beer. He’s the kind of guy who would rather not drink than drink something boring. Nice.
In addition to being a crafty Halloween costumer, John is also a huge advocate for honesty. He has been accused of being “too honest,” but we know that isn’t a real thing. Keep gettin’ your honesty on, John.
When John isn’t at work he likes to visit baseball stadiums. He’s been to more than 20. It’s also important to note that he is a White Sox fan and is still recovering from the Cubs’ win in 2016.
John aspires to bring glory to his hometown of Roselle, some day, by discovering the cure for onion hands.
There is no such thing as too clean in John’s world. Keep the hand sanitizer coming.
Allison comes to Zoro from a really small town. Like the kind of small town that doesn’t have a stoplight. Her small town upbringing hasn’t stopped her from integrating in with the crew here at Zoro! Alison brings with her a degree in Marketing from University of Illinois and keen understanding of merchandising. She studied abroad in Antarctica for 6 months in college, so she also brings with her a wealth of information about penguin research.
When it comes to free time, Allison has a bunch of cool ways to wind down. She loves binge watching shows on Netflix. She shamelessly watched all of “Shameless" within 4 weekends. She also enjoys watching reality TV, horseback riding, and eating junk food. All junk food, but especially candy, and extra especially chocolate.
It’s important to note that Allison also really likes spending time with her pup, Ruby. She loves Ruby so much she made a video about her and showed the whole company. It was super cute.
Allison grew up riding Western style, but now she’s acclimating to city life and learning English style riding. Fancy.
Kristine would like to make it known that there is a very specific way to achieve the perfect Oreo dunk (a little soggy on the outside and crunchy on the inside) and that she is a master of this technique. When she isn’t busy officiating Zoro’s weekly Oreo dunking seminars, Kristine does … a lot. Here at work she helps make searching fun and inviting.
When she isn’t at work she does some really casual stuff, like running her own sporting apparel eCommerce business, being a world traveler, and renovating the house she and her husband just bought. Again, super casual. Kristine is also getting into gardening. She hopes to someday have her own vegetable garden. The only problem is that her sassy malti-poo, Arlee, might eat all of her home-grown veggies.
In addition to all of that stuff, Kristine just had her first kid! Her son, Callahan, is wondering when it’s time for him to follow in Kristine’s footsteps and start his own business selling baby sports apparel. Calm down, Cal. Give it a year or two.
Kristine’s ideal summer night is spent on her patio with a Bud Light Lime in hand.
Sarah is a part of our searchandising team and is here to help make our search bar do searching better. This makes sense, as Sarah is our resident expert on magic, and search bars are magic. Sarah listens to the Harry Potter audiobooks every day on her way to work. She would like it to be known that she is a Gryffindor.
She recently got married and is proud to report that her husband is just as into Harry Potter as she is, but is a Ravenclaw. Their cat, Khloe, has yet to wear the Sorting Hat, but Sarah hopes Khloe follows in her footsteps and some day dons the Gryffindor red and gold.
Sarah hales from Wisconsin and it is important to note that she thinks she’s the biggest Packers fan ever. Lisa from Searchandising also feels as though she is the biggest Packers fan ever, so sometimes they fight about it. Sarah made her husband convert to be a Packers fan, it’s that serious.
In the most Wisconsinite answer possible, Sarah let us know that her favorite food is “curds.”
JT was a military kid, so it would probably be easier to list the places he didn’t grow up: he hasn’t lived in Fishkill, NY, or Kanakanak, AK. But other than that, he has been everywhere. All that walking around is probably why he is an avid collector of sneakers. He has dozens and dozens of pairs of gym shoes, but he won’t divulge the actual number. Ironically, when it comes to really USING the sneakers, JT claims that he only “looks like” he can play ball. But when you are in Marketing Promotions, it is important to look good. So, he gets a pass.
JT is our go-to guy when things get tough. Why? Because he has a staunch record of keeping his cool. Like he says, he has a 50% success rate at not passing out in the delivery room during the birth of his children. Prior to coming to Zoro, JT worked for a Vegas casino chain. So if you start seeing promotions coming out of the marketing department that give you odds instead of just a certain percentage off your order, you’ll know who was behind it.
JT hopes to one day go on an African safari and we are confident he knows exactly which shoes he is going to wear.
What do you get when you mix together a love of camping, intense project management know-how, a little maple syrup, and a deep, deep hatred for Alderaan? You get a Canadian Mountie! Just kidding, they don’t hate Alderaan. You get Adriane!
Adriane spent her early years kicking around in Kansas but quickly moved on to the great mitten of Michigan. These days, Adriane likes to hang out in Chicago with her tiny dog, Vito Corleone, while they watch terrible reality television.
When Adriane isn’t busy explaining to Vito that while revenge may be a dish best served cold, his food isn’t, she is an active member of the Midwest Garrison of the 501st Legion. Don’t know what that is? Google it; it’s awesome.
Han shot first.
Julia grew up in the wilds of Rockford, and for the most part has stayed there on account of its awesomeness. Wine and the Great Outdoors are available in great abundance, and there is really no need to leave.
At Zoro (where she does not drink wine), Julia runs our affiliate programs. She wheels and deals and makes sure that Zoro’s showing up in all the right places across the web. When we asked her what historical moment impacted her life (it’s an invasive question we ask everyone), she said the fall of the Berlin Wall. Her dad was playing Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” while watching the news, which is insanely cool, and we all would like our lives to be soundtracked like that.
Outside of work, Julia likes to be with her husband and their two dogs. If you were to combine all of Julia’s favorite things into one fabulous event it would look like this: rev up a snowmobile. Pack it with wine. Ride the snowmobile out over a frozen lake where a speedboat has been marooned and stuck in the ice. Park the snowmobile a safe distance from the speedboat. Drill a hole in the ice. Fish. Crack open a nice German book. Drink wine. Repeat.
Fun Fact: Julia’s first word was “owls.”
Jared is our mail man. Well, kind of. He’s in charge of all of our direct mail strategy and implementation. He’s the one stuffing your mailboxes with coupons and other awesome stuff. He comes to Zoro with a love of mail stuffers and a thirst for greatness. We asked Jared what he likes to do in his spare time and he said, “I like to do activities.” Thanks for clearing that up!
Upon further digging, it appears that the activities Jared likes to do are hang out with his family, golf, play softball, play board games, and try to teach his son, Charlie, how to do the Dougie.
Jared is the reigning king of Loud Music Friday because everyone loves his jams so much. His reign started on the day we had the theme of “Karaoke Klassics,” which is ironic, because Jared claims he cannot sing at all and is not even a fan of karaoke.
Jared once drank 4 milkshakes while hula-hooping on the beach. We hoop this was a positive experience.
Bob grew up in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago which boasts a higher rate of residents with Master’s, Professional and Doctorate degrees than the state average. So it comes as no surprise that Bob is a seriously educated dude. He’s got a BS and MBA from DePaul University and a MS in Analytics from the University of Notre Dame. Ok, brainiac. We got it, you’re smart!
When Bob isn’t working on his abacus here at Zoro, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, playing golf, listening to U2, playing golf, doing NY Times crossword puzzles, playing golf, watching the Chicago Cubs, playing golf, cheering on the Fighting Irish and oh, wait, did we forget to mention that he likes to play golf?
Bob is a true history buff. In fact we believe that Bob finds each trip to a vintage venue like a flea market or an antique shop as an opportunity to learn about history and culture. Wow, Bob, that’s deep!
Bob’s favorite movie is Goodwill Hunting. How do you like them apples?
Jenny grew up in the lovely suburbs of northern Illinois and stuck around until her mid-twenties, when she jettisoned the cruel winters for the dry heat of Arizona. Then, somehow forgetting what the weather here is really like, she decided to come back so she could experience the joys of shoveling snow, trudging through sludge, and vehicular salt damage.
Jenny is an AP Specialist here, which means she gets to spend the money—on bills, which we guess is OK. As a member of our accounting group, it’s absolutely essential to love two things: sports, and numbers. Luckily, Jenny is a fan of both. In sports, she prefers the Cubs; with numbers, she likes prime numbers. “Composite numbers are high maintenance,” says Jenny.
Jenny spends her free time watching sports, gardening, and trying out new drinks (she’s an amateur mixologist). She came in second place for during the wall squat contest at Zoro’s 2014 fitness competition, and is gunning for first next year.
When Jenny has free time from her free time, she naps on the couch with her dog.
Margaret is here at Zoro as an accountant, but I don’t think we were quite what she was … wait for it … accounting on. Margaret came to America (from China) so that she could attend Loyola University for her Master’s degree. She then moved out to the suburbs because she’s a passionate proponent of the 5 minute commute.
In all of Margaret’s spare time (that she has because of her short commute) she likes to do all kinds of adventurous stuff in the outdoors. She enjoys hiking, surfing, and scuba diving especially.
Sometimes it rains and Margaret has to find activities to do inside, when she’s bound to the indoors she really enjoys musical theatre and opera. Her favorite musical is "The Phantom of the Opera." She also likes to spend time with her golden retriever, Buddy.
Margaret really likes trying new foods. She recently tried Ethiopian food and was not thrilled about having to eat with her hands. She also wanted to report that it’s very sour.
Here’s a list of stuff about Sean:
This has been a biography about Sean.
That is all.
Chris is our resident sports fiend. He’s the coach of the Zoro Softball team, arranges the annual Zolf outing, and is our head accountant. Accounting is a sport, right? Either way, Chris is #1 at crunching numbers and crunching golf balls. He’s also a card guy. He’s got a real poker face … and brain.
In his spare time, Chris likes to practice playing the lute. He wishes to some day be a bard, and is hoping to make his debut performance at the next Zoro holiday party. Bardy on, Chris. He doesn’t really have much spare time, though, because he has 3 young children. Apparently this is some sort of time commitment and he cannot just ship them off to sports … yet.
In addition to sports, Chris also loves banana milkshakes. Like way more than you’d expect anyone to like banana milkshakes.
Chris has recently gotten into country music and suspects that this is because he is getting old. Womp womp.
Dana is a one-of-a-kind. Yes, technically we all are, but Dana is special. She used to be a princess, is currently a boxer, and is a human resources representative here at Zoro. She can tell you where to get the best steak, mix you up a fancy cocktail, but is also happy and willing to hit “da club” when asked. While Dana likes to hide behind the stern, HR persona we all expect: don’t let her fool you. She’s one of the nicest people that has ever entered the foxhole and anyone who has been around here longer than a day or two is well aware of that.
She is one of the first members of our first ever Fox Squad. She is tasked with bringing fun and levity into the office and has delivered fun by the dozens.
When Dana isn’t busy striking fear into the hearts of unsuspecting potential candidates, she love spending time with her boyfriend, Mike. They love painting, hanging out with friends, playing board games, and traveling. They’re planning to travel the world together, starting with Cancun. Cancun believe that? Their arduous and exhausting vacation itinerary consists of: drinking wine, drinking fruity drinks, sunbathing, finding exquisite food to eat, and drinking more wine. It’s going to be exhausting, but they’re going to try their best.
Dana isn’t a hugger, but she’s working on it.
A Grand Ridge, IL, native, Lauren is our scout. She rides ahead with a three-day supply of food and water and looks over the great prairie for the best and brightest specimens. She gets very excited when she finds a wild Businessus analyticus, a red-crested IT associate, or the rarely encountered three-toed merchandiser to wrangle and bring back to Zoro. Lauren says she likes to spend time with her family and friends, and it’s not hard to figure out why. As a recruiter, she has only the best possible friends in her circle. Each one has passed a rigorous screening process and phone interview.
In her off time, Lauren likes to play with her dog (which also had to complete a questionnaire and write an essay about why he should be adopted over all the others at the kennel) and watch Law & Order. After each episode, she discusses economics, business law, and international politics with the pooch, because she has a fear of public speaking and needs to start somewhere. She hopes to travel to Buenos Aires, where public speaking won’t be a problem since she doesn’t know a lick of Spanish.
Lauren is the oldest of four kids in her family, none of whom she had the chance to interview first.
At some point near the end of the Mesozoic Era a volcano split in two, and from it emerged Seth. Here at Zoro he’s learned how to do some kind of activity involving computers. We can’t be more specific than that.
He won’t ever admit it in public, but Seth is the reigning world champion in potato tattooing.
One of Seth’s greatest passions in life is re-arranging bedroom furniture. In his current set-up he sleeps in a green silk web that he has suspended from his ceiling.
Seth’s real name is Tubro. He is, in fact, the Goblin God of Money.
Michael was born to two Air Force lovebirds, and lived up to the legacy of pushing the boundaries by staying in the same city for eighteen years with a strict diet of books, video games and darkness. Early wizardly training went efficiently, especially once a five-pound laptop was acquired. Upon stumbling out of his study, he endeavored to get the pieces of paper that convince other people of ones’ skill at computer wizardry, only to find that such things came at great cost in both time and treasure. Nonetheless, he took to it and was rewarded with two such pieces of paper; and, by exchanging many “words”, a trip into the more western parts of the Midwest to live amongst cows and others with similar pieces of paper.
Despite many fine years of manipulating information both visual and linguistic, eventually the constant mooing got to him and he took up this current apprenticeship with a Chicago sorceress. Now he enjoys pulling data hither and yon so as to please the vulpine masters, and also birthday donuts.
Michael often disappears with no other explanation other than “Wizard stuff, fool!”, only to return later with a haunted look in his eyes. Many theories have been put forward, but few answers have yet been found. Thankfully, the data moves around even in his absence. For now.
Do you need advice on how to properly and securely manage customer and product data, or properly and securely get a nice tan going on? Melissa’s the one to talk to. In a previous life Melissa was a tanning analyst, and now she’s our systems analyst. She grew up in the great state of Ohio and although she didn’t attend Ohio State University (sorry, the Ohio State University, yeesh) she still roots for them, because Ohio. Her dog, an actual living thing, is named after Brutus the Buckeye, a poisonous nut mascot.
Melissa loves working at Zoro because she can wear comfy clothes and work with awesome people. In that order. She’d like people more if they were dogs, which are her favorite animals. But dogs are awesome, so we get it. If more dogs learned how to code, we’d probably hire a few. You can never have enough coders, or dogs. Just imagine how awesome an coding office dog would be. Seriously. Imagine it, right now. This is Melissa’s dream come true.
You always know when Melissa is coming because of the sound of her electric scooter crashing into and caroming off of things. This is what happens when you combine electric propulsion with clumsiness and compulsive hair twirling.
What do you get when transplant an Angeleno into Chicago? If Andre is any indication, you get a well-rounded person who’s as comfortable taking photos as they are managing the Zoro ERP. (You don’t need to know what that last part means.) Andre works in our IT department making sure that the 1s and 0s involved in your transactions are running smoothly.
As helpful as all that information is though, It’s best to get to know Andre through rhyme. So here goes: Yo, he’s from Southern California, he’s knows both his bokeh and his JIRA, he can read ya your rights in video game fights! He’s agile, not fragile, he’s got mad skills, all business, no frills, His method is scientific, his output is prolific, so be authentic or he’ll get sick. Ya hear me?
SoCal > NorCal.
Ben has goals. The chief among them is to have his consciousness transferred into a virtual world where it can live forever without the need for food or water so he can keep programming code indefinitely, forever. He is in the back room working on that right now. His other goal, to stand on the plains of Marathon in Greece, is really not compatible with the first one, but we are going to let him work that one out for himself.
Ben says his favorite hobby is to annoy his cats. But the joke is actually on him. The cats know what is going on and they are just letting him THINK he is annoying them when in fact, they are quietly plotting to overthrow him and all the rest of us humans. Soon. Soon. In the meantime, Ben likes to play basketball and play a few stringed instruments. He does both passably well.
Ben says he is passionate about “software architecture.” No seriously, he actually said that.
When Kiko finished college he took a job as a programmer. Soon after that, the other programmers realized he was way too awesome at talking to people and immediately shoved him in the limelight. Ever since that moment in time, Kiko has been taking the IT world by storm.
Here at Zoro he does a whole lot, but his official title is Director of IT Supply Chain. In his spare he also does a whole lot. Kiko is a cycling phenomenon, a superstar crossfit addict, and has recently been cooking with a sous vide machine. “Sous vide” is French for, “Really, really, fancy.”
If you were wondering about the origin of the name Kiko, we’ll take a quick moment to go over that. Kiko’s Mom used to call him “coquito,” which means “the little coconut. Kiko’s father heard his mother saying “coquito” and when he tried to repeat it it came out “Kiko.” Thus a legend was born.
Kiko is the true, original spiritual gangster.
Ed is simply known around the office as, “Ed the Data Guy.” If we could make this his official title, we would. If you hadn’t guessed, Ed does stuff with data around the office here. He holds the data, warms the data, and serves the data up.
In addition to data, music is Ed’s other passion. He loves all kinds of music and calls himself a “music junkie.” He’s the kind of person who will stop, listen to a street musician, and then tip them. In other words, he is the best kind of person. Some of Ed’s favorite groups are, Los Lobos, Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Jaco, and Earth, Wind, and Fire.
We asked Ed about what kind of food he likes and he said, “As long as it isn’t vegan: we’re okay.” So, we guess we know where Ed stands on that matter. It’s also important to note that Ed hates sitting around the house. He’s always out looking for something to do and is a very active guy.
Ed has 42 first cousins, the real question is: does he know all of their names?
Paul is the coolest guy at Zoro and may be the coolest guy in the world. He’s rather humble about it, but let us brag about him for a second: he owns 3 motorcycles, was recently chosen to become a teacher at a motorcycle performance school, plays sand volleyball, and is secretly a cat person.
“Take the bull by the horns” kind of guy is a bit of an understatement with Paul. He loves challenges, loves putting himself in situations that require mental agility, and is probably also a actually a bull fighter. Nothing would surprise us at this point.
As a teenager, Paul learned graphic design and business processes first-hand from the business his dad owned, and hasn’t stopped learning since. He’s recently become a Scrum Master (whatever that means), and looking out for the next challenge.
Paul’s cats are named Cosmo and Ozzy. Awwwwwwwww.
Anton is our resident IT (irritating things) fixer guy. He really, really, really likes to do that annoying computer stuff that nobody else likes to do, hooray! In addition to getting everyone wired into the web, Anton also enjoys Skittles and having a killer beard. When asked “What do you think about the company?” Anton said: “Zoro is like a game of Monopoly, the fun never ends.” We don’t know what game you’re playing, but we’ve never seen a game of Monopoly that ended in anything other than table flipping and yelling about who really owns Park Place or who landed on whose mega hotel.
In his free time, Anton likes to eat pizza and play video games. He really likes pizza, he wanted to make it clear to everyone that pizza is a passion. He also stated that he can eat 3 large burritos in one sitting, we’re not really sure if that is safe to do, but we will for sure be cheering him on at the company picnic. Finally, Anton would really like to go to Greenland to start a protest to have Greenland and Iceland swap names and he is 100% certain he can make it happen. You heard the man!
Anton likes to lie on his kitchen floor in the fetal position pretending he’s a bread crumb. There’s no joke here: he actually said that.
Alina is one of our resident IT people who just knows how to fix things. She is a problem solver through-and-through and has saved us from ill-fated-darkness more times than we can count.
Alina also likes to paint! She’s our resident Picasso and can be found painting anything from pomegranates to forests.
In addition to painting, Alina really enjoys scaring people. Specifically: KP, Jeff, and James. She mostly just likes to come up behind them and shake their chairs, but this can be very jarring (and hilarious). Alina also mentioned that she does not like burgers, pizza, and has no sweet tooth … we’re really hoping this is some kind of prank.
Also noteworthy is that Alina is Zoro’s resident party animal. She loves partying anywhere. This includes: parks, night clubs, cooking class (?), bars, the homes of her friends, and doggy day cares.
Alina hales from the great city of Ufa. She’s having a hard time getting Ufa it.
Ed likes to fix stuff. More specifically: Ed likes to take things apart and put them back together. Sometimes they still work. Don’t worry, while this may sound dangerous … it totally is. It’s completely dangerous. But Ed’s that kind of guy.
Aside from fixin’ things, Ed likes to camp with the Scouts. His favorite camping spot is Waterfall Glen. It’s right next to Argonne National Laboratory, so nobody needs a flashlight for a few days after they get home. Speaking of which, Ed used to work at Argonne. When we asked what he did there, he merely responded with, “I fix computers.” So … sounds like it was top secret.
“Top secret” is a theme that runs through Ed’s work history. He once set up computers in the Pentagon. (Yes, that one.) This information is starting to make us wonder what he really does here at Zoro … hmm.
Ed states that “Blue is not a good color for food.” Sorry, Ed: You’re wrong. There’s a bunch of popsicle-enthusiasts who would like to have a word with you.
What do you say to a guy who brews his own beer, cures his own bacon, and is a certified BBQ judge with the Kansas City BBQ Society? PLEASE NEVER LEAVE US. Scott is the kind of guy that everyone else wishes they could be. Driven, passionate, and, again … he cures his own bacon.
Here at Zoro, Scott is our guy in charge of making sure people don’t click on stuff they shouldn’t click on. You read that right. He’s the click police. And the email attachment police. And the updating your computer stuff police. He protects us from viruses, but he’s way better than anti-virus software.
When Scott isn’t busy protecting unsuspecting Zoroites from malware, he lives a life full of cooking, live music, and awesome geeky things with his lady, Wendy. Wendy is really into classic punk, and Scott is really into jazz, so they go to quite an array of various types of live music. The jury isn’t out on which genre their doberman, Gator, prefers.
Rocki, our Senior Director of Brand Development, spends her free time chasing after her two toddlers. Undoubtedly this is what clinched her the job here at Zoro because the staff of the Marketing department she helms is known to throw a tantrum or two from time to time. Yeah, her MBA from Harvard and more than a decade of experience leading some of the world’s biggest brands didn’t hurt either. And, you should see Zoro T. Fox! He’s so excited she joined the team. Right now, he is standing on a little platform in front of a mirror in her office like he is waiting to be fitted for a new suit.
Rocki enjoys the beach, attending sporting events, and going to music concerts. None of this new fangled, electro-pop, synthesized, EDM stuff though. Give her some good old-school hip hop or R&B every time. But don’t get it in your head that she is some ultra-hip coolster. Rocki freely admits she is a nerd whose favorite subjects in school were math and physics. Pizza is her favorite food, though, so that totally makes up for it.
Rocki’s goal is to complete an athletic challenge of some kind, but not a marathon. So we’re thinking that when she succeeds in opening a new jar of pickles at her house, the National Anthem plays and she takes a victory lap.
Zach is artsy. He’s got a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, he spends his free time doodling in his sketchbook, he’s worked as an Art Director at a downtown agency, and he wears puffy pirate shirts and cat-eye horn-rimmed glasses. He also says that he likes to spend time at the dog park but didn’t mention if he has a dog. So it’s possible he’s one of “those” people. But we are willing to cut him some slack because he counts his attendance at the Chuck Jones Centennial as one of his most memorable events, and we think that is kinda awesome.
Zach admits the reason he interviewed at Zoro to begin with is his love for Zoro T. Fox. He looks forward to animating our favorite little guy in various situations, disguises, outfits, costumes, predicaments, and poses. So be on the lookout for Zoro concept art coming your way in a Z‐Mail or on a billboard soon. Zach says he wants to skydive before he dies and we think it would be amaaaaazing if he could doodle Zoro while plummeting to the earth. Right?!?!
Zach admitted on his staff biography questionnaire that his favorite animal is the lynx. Really, Zach? The lynx?
Nick is a stand up kind of guy. No, really. He likes to stand all the time. Even at work. When Nick isn’t busy standing at his fancy standing desk managing Zoro Brand things, he likes to make his own soap and deodorant. He usually smells like pepper, but he says it’s lavender. Nick wants a dog so badly that he almost dognapped one “once.” (Hide your pooches, folks.)
If you ever want to chat casually about GMOs or why gluten will be the downfall of all humanity, Nick is your guy. Nick is passionate about political matters, the environment, and bingo. Nick is an avid participant at “Friends” trivia. When the rain starts to pour: he’ll be there for you.
Nick once spent 5 hours running around New York City trying to find gluten-free pizza. This isn’t a joke — that really happened. He also tried to kidnap a dog there.
Sylvia is one of the nicest people here at the foxhole. She always has a smile on her face, loves to talk to anyone about anything, and is always happy to provide detailed and succinct market research when requested. If you ever wanted to know who it is trying to figure out what our customer love, what they don’t love, and what they want: it’s Sylvia.
When Sylvia isn’t busy being our resident detective, she loves to swim. She also loves reading, traveling, and cooking. She really, really wants to go to Alaska.
Sylvia spends a good chunk of her free time decorating her home. She loves shopping at Homegoods because they have everything she needs. It is also probably pertinent to note that Sylvia loves meat. Any meat, but specially lamb. She does not care about vegetables, and really just wants to eat meat all the time.
Sylvia’s husband used to do her homework for her, is he secretly our market research analyst?
Caleigh “I am no longer the intern” M. is our resident social media intern, I mean, guru. When she’s not Snapchatting, Instagramming or Pinteresting, she’s shopping online, filling up carts only to abandon them when she’s reached her virtual credit limit.
A true middle child (cue the violin), Caleigh defines the most historical event that impacted her life was the birth of her younger sister, which sealed her fate as a true sufferer of middle child syndrome.
Caleigh is super obsessed with eyebrow grooming. No, seriously, she almost turned down an all-expense paid trip to New Orleans because it conflicted with her eyebrow waxing appointment. She does have envious eyebrows …
Caleigh dreams of posting pictures on Instagram from Ireland, Snapping from every NHL stadium and creating the world’s largest Pinterest board devoted solely to Ranch dressing. If you can dream it, Caleigh, you can do it!
If we are lucky, once in a while, our paths cross with an individual that has an immediate and defining impact on the rest of our lives. This individual inspires us. They want us to strive to be more than who we are in that moment. Alas, Kevin is not that guy. Sure he’s a pretty good IT Operations Manager for Zoro and a heck of dancer, but he is no Tony Robbins.
Kevin spent four years in relative solitude in the Sonoran Desert. He used this time to commune with his animal totem, the majestic and wise emu. There, with his emu spirit guide (and the help of some other spirits, wink-wink) he meditated on his future path, a path which led him to Zoro.
Someone once asked Kevin, “Kevin, how do you do it?” Kevin replied, “You see, it’s like a sandwich. You get your bread on both sides and then you got the stuff in between. That’s it.” Powerful words.
Jason comes to Zoro by way of Houston and says that he wants to help “grow the company.” We are hoping he means financially and not in the “everything is bigger in Texas” way. Huge forks in the cafeteria? A giant computer mouse that you can’t even move? A phone too big to lift? That wouldn’t be helpful. It’s not like Thor or The Hulk work in business analysis or customer service (although that would be totally wicked).
Jason is a board game fanatic and restaurant enthusiast. So when he discovered we have a Yahtzee Grill and Chez Boggle here in the suburbs of Chicago, he knew he had found his new home. It takes good nutrition and a keen sense of cunning to bring a “unique perspective blending a high-level strategic viewpoint, a granular analytical viewpoint, and a cross-industry consulting viewpoint.” And yes, that is really how he talks.
Jason is good at wrestling, soccer, track, cross country, basketball, baseball, tennis, swimming, and football. We’re not joking.
Jeff is everyone’s favorite person here at Zoro. He deals with all of the legal-related stuff so that we don’t have to. Some of the stuff he does is reviewing and redlining contracts with 10 different colors, keeping vendors in check, talking to our lawyers, etc... We really can’t stress enough just how amazing that is. In addition to saving the lives of Zoro employees every day, Jeff is also working on an MBA. Casual.
He loves to golf, loves to travel, and loves to cook. He says he’s pretty okay at cooking and that he has the Food Network to thank for that. So we guess he’s not getting Chopped any time soon. Jeff’s other hidden talent is that he knows all of the lines in Rocky 4 and can recite it at will. This is especially scary when he takes on the role of Ivan Drago in legal discussions.
An especially noteworthy part of Jeff’s past is that he has been kicked out of not one, but two, buffets. He ate too much and they said he had to go. He tried to argue the legality of an “all-you-can-eat” claim, but wasn’t able to wiggle his way out of that one.
Jeff tried to get into Game of Thrones and couldn’t … it’s okay Jeff, we forgive you.
Alina grew up in Israel—not Israel, Ohio, but the country of Israel. She learned many things there, but she did not learn to sing. What she did learn, however, was how to be a bit of a daredevil. She’s gone skydiving, which according to this author’s totally accurate web search and simple arithmetic has confirmed only 0.000142% of the global population are crazy enough to do each year. With an infant at home, her current madcap adventures include navigating rooms with toys strewn about and sleeping through the night.
Alina works as an online merchandise manager, where she brings all her Loyola-educated brains to bear on Excel spreadsheets. She hopes to one day learn Krav Maga so she can bring those skills to bear on Excel spreadsheets and, if you cross her, your face. She also likes to “attend unique events,” which is very ambiguous.
Don’t talk about your awesome mink coat in front of Alina. She will improvise what she thinks Krav Maga should be like and you will be sorry.
Laura is a Sr. Online Merchandising Manager. Sound like a mouthful? It is. But her list of responsibilities is as long as the title itself. She’s come into this crazy dynamic company and injected her own crazy dynamism, leveling the whole company up to crazy dynamism squared. A lifetime Chicagoarean, Laura has a wealth of experience in merchandising, content, organizational skills, and enthusiasm. We could always use more of all of that--especially enthusiasm. (Coffee can only go so far.)
Laura has a big family: two kids, two dogs, one cat, and one husband. (We don’t know whether this list is in order of preference or not.) She loves NASCAR, Napa, naps, NASA, Nat King Cole, and national parks. She hates spiders and math class. She’s also a huge reader, and is on a colonial history kick at the moment. That period of history has everything; political strife, societal upheaval, witch burning, weird fashion trends...everything. So we get it.
Laura enjoys reading by any body of water, except retention ponds.
Nadine comes from a long line of online merchandise managers. For centuries, her ancestors farmed the land in the day and ensured the pricing and product information on thousands of SKUs were correct at night. (Her family was way, way ahead of the times.) If there is a price that is not truly representative of an item’s true value, Nadine is here to correct it. It’s in her blood.
Nadine grew up in a small town, but not as small as a small town as the one she lives in now, which is extra-small. But small-town living helps her maintain her preferred outdoorsy lifestyle with her husband, daughter, and extended family. She lives what the bookish would consider an exciting life: snowboarding, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, and the like. However, none of these activities are as extreme or exciting as the “experimental cooking” she says she likes to do. (We didn’t press her on this. We simply let the comment pass. “Experimental” could mean anything, after all—the less we know the better.)
You always know when Nadine’s made a spreadsheet, on account of the bright colors. Your grey cells cannot contain her!
One day soon, Nadine is going to roll into the parking lot with a sick Corvette. It’s going to be awesome.
Raised in the Heights of Arlington, a Chicago suburb that raises from the Illinois Plains a whole 700 feet, Jim brings a much-needed eagle eye perspective to Zoro. He leads our Customer Operations group, which is tasked with minor things like “pleasing our customers with spectacular service” and “making sure we have all the products a customer could want and a price they thought was only possible in their dreams.” You know, little stuff like that.
We’re joking, of course. It’s big stuff. And Jim likes big things. Big product selections. Big savings for our customers. Big clown shoes. Big thinking. He’s not a huge fan of big golf handicaps. When he isn’t leading our Customer Ops group, he can be found in a handful of places: on the golf course, hanging out with his wife and kids, or sitting in a comfy chair and reading the news on his phone. Jim tries to be as chill as possible, no matter where he is.
Despite growing up a Chicagarean, Jim is somehow a Packers fan.
When you meet Todd, one of the first things you think is “I bet this guy has relatives in Alaska,” and you’d be right. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Todd. He grew up in Oconomowoc, WI, one of the hardest “Place Names” to ever appear on Wheel of Fortune (it’s all vowels!), and has lived in tons of places ever since. Todd even spent some time in Australia working as a business development manager. At Zoro, he’s a product phenom, helping our annual catalogs become a reality and tons of other stuff along the way.
Outside of work, Todd likes to spend time fixing up and improving his condo and making all his friends jealous of where he works. He can also be found rollerblading around the street fests of Chicago (weather permitting), enjoying indoor sports like darts & bowling, semi-indoor camping. He’s been hooked on sci-fi ever since he saw the moon landing and is planning his own visit. After that he wants to land on all the moons, starting with Phobos.
Todd told us he was published in National Handi-Mans Magazine in the year 20003, a “typo” that confirms he is in fact a time traveler and—by virtue of the transitive property—confirms humanity survives for another 20,000 years.
David is one of the guys at Zoro who knows everything about everything. Go ahead, ask him anything. What’s the MFD rating of a 3 1/8” oval run capacitor? How do I unstick a 2 in. brass swing check valve? How many jelly beans are in this jar? He just knows it, we don’t even ask how. It’s actually pretty impressive for a guy who says that his favorite school subjects were lunch and recess.
David’s extensive computer skills, product knowledge, and experience, not to mention his love for steamed king crab legs, will take him far here at Zoro. That is just the set of characteristics we look for. So next time the adjustable cushion clutch on your inline pneumatic screwdriver fails to accurately control the torque output to the bit, you know who to ask for.
David also knows quite a bit about staying married, as his wife of 35 years can attest.
Technical Product Support is the perfect gig at Zoro for Gary because he is an archery expert. He will take aim at your question and hit the bull’s-eye with the right answer every time. He’s also into metal detecting, so he will scour the landscape until he finds just the response you are looking for buried in a pit of confusion. And he likes fishing, so he will plumb the dark depths of the cold unknown and pull up the resolution to your issue. Oh, and hiking! He will ramble and rove upon the wilderness of your … we should have stopped while we were ahead.
Anyway, Gary is a lifelong Chicago resident and plans to build his next Chicago residence by himself. (We know a great place to get good prices on everything you will need to finish that project, Gary!) He also wants to run a marathon and visit Australia. We think he really just wants to know if the water in the bathtub actually circulates down the drain the opposite direction in the southern hemisphere. Please let us know what you find out, Answer Man.
Gary wants to learn how to speak Polish someday. Powodzenia.
Brian is an enigma. He says he’s not athletic, yet he ran track, played soccer, and wrestled in high school. He says he has no artistic talent, yet he plays the guitar, ukulele, and drums (and goes on and on about artists like Townes Van Zandt). He says his favorite job was camp counselor, but admits his favorite beverage is “the tears of my enemies.” So we really don’t know what to make of him, just yet. But we do know that his experience working in global sourcing and product management, combined with his MBA from IU will serve him well here at Zoro as a Category Manager.
Animals also seem to be a theme in Brian’s life. He grew up near the Brookfield Zoo in Chicagoland, even having worked there briefly, and admits to being the black sheep in his family. If he starts to commune with his animal spirit guide in the break room, we might need to bring HR into the picture. And then there is the little matter of his life goal: “being shot out of a cannon.” Ok, Brian, that’s cool, but what we really want to see is you being shot out of a cannon while playing the ukulele. There could be a whole reality TV show there!
Brian is glad to be part of the “caffeine fueled rocket ship ride” that is Zoro.
Julie is far out and cool. Evidence? She used to work at the company that makes Lava Lamps and she is the lead singer of a rock band called Makrizzle (note that this is a “Rock Band the video game” group, but it’s cool nonetheless). She also refers to her dogs as her “furry children.” So that is where the “far out” part comes from. She also loves Candy Crush and nail polish … a lot. A lot a lot.
Julie considers the first time her grandma let her try coffee as the one event that most impacted her, noting that it changed her life. That, combined with the “furry children,” nail polish obsession, and Candy Crush addiction, should help you understand why we felt she was such a great fit to work here at Zoro. You’ve got to look at Content Analysis from a slightly skewed perspective.
Julie has two actual children as well, but did not specify if they were unusually furry for toddlers.
Sheri, by the numbers: two kids, two dogs, one husband, one brother, and 21 nieces and nephews. We aren’t asking any questions about the math there. She also has visited 36 of these United States, with only 14 to go to complete her goal of visiting all of them. But most importantly, she works for the number one best company anywhere, Zoro. (It will be even better here when she comes through on her promise to bring in baked goods.)
Born and raised just a few miles from the Fox Hole, Sheri is a retail veteran, working in the industry for many years. She brings with her a positive attitude and piano-playing chops that can’t be beat. In her off-hours, she likes to indulge in her self-professed “nerdy pleasure”: watching TED Talks. She especially likes the one where the astrophysicist talks about the time he tasked the CALorimetric Electron Telescope (CALET) to track the trajectory of cosmic ray particles and measure their charge and energy. That one is a real knee-slapper.
Sheri is a yoga enthusiast and is often seen in the downward facing dog pose during product meetings.
Laura, a lifelong resident of Zoroville, comes to us with a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising, so we are all going to have to step up our office attire game. Jeans and a Zoro jersey won’t cut it anymore. Ugh. But there might be hope. She says that she “danced her way through college,” so maybe she wasn’t really paying attention. She also claims to be passionate about food, so perhaps we can ply her with baked goods and get a pass when all we have clean is a ripped tee and a pair of dungarees.
Laura’s favorite pastimes are watching Real Housewives in her pajamas with a big glass of wine and DIY projects. One of those things is highly relevant to Zoro, the other, not so much. But considering that she has a toddler daughter, she probably doesn’t get an hour of free time anyway. Laura also says she would like to learn to play guitar, which actually is perfect because the company rock band needs an axe player. The sign up sheet is in the warehouse next to the ping pong table, Laura.
Laura also played the violin for 13 years, so maybe the Zoro band is getting a string section!
Val is the bomb. No, seriously: Val is an explosion of excitement and turns every room she walks into a party…. Or so you think. Our resident trickster has started off her tenure in our product department with a bang, braap, floosh, and thwarp. Someone gave you salt in your coffee instead of sugar? Val. Someone placed a whoopee cushion down with ninja-like, precise timing? Val. Someone rigged your desk drawer to only open an inch before jamming? Val.
When she’s not busy being the office cut-up she likes to give back to the community and also support her favorite basketball team: DA BULLS. Val also likes to kick it with her homeboy Leonardo DiCaprio while they drink Moscow mules in Spain and he reads excerpts from The Great Gatsby. Okay, so that didn’t happen, but a girl can dream!
Val is a big fan of working out and running marathons… er… marathoning television shows. Close enough.
Tiffany is the reigning world champion of Hot Air Balloon Airbrushing. Her skill with the airbrush is undeniable, and only few can wield such a device while in a hot air balloon!
When Tiffany isn’t busy airbrushing in the air, she really likes to curl up in the corner of her couch, with her polka dot blanket and a glass of Pinot Noir, and get her media on. She is a fiend for documentaries. Her favorite topics are: World War II, nature, animals, and serial killers. She also has a strong passion for “The Walking Dead” and “Game of Thrones.” Her cat, Sir Davos, can attest that the night is dark and full of cuddles.
Tiffany also has a strong passion for spicy food. In specific: tacos and taco salad. She claims that there is not a week that will go by without her having each of those things at least twice. Welp, that’s awesome.
There was an ice crystal thawed over 400 years ago and that is where Tiffany gained her powers. Don’t tell anyone.
Kourtney is our resident real housewife of the product team. She loves The Real Housewives. All of them. It’s important to note that Lisa Vanderpump is her favorite housewife, but as a group, her favorite are The Real Housewives of New York. So much does she love The Real Housewives that she claims she feels obligated to watch any new show on Bravo. Bravo, Bravo!
She hails from Connecticut, moved to Georgia during high school, and ended up getting her degree in English from the University of Georgia … this explains why she’s a huge advocate for life in Athens. She wants everyone to know it’s actually a great place and there’s lots to do.
After college, Kourtney decided she wanted to be Rachel Green, from Friends. She embarked on a career as a buyer, and the rest is history. She started with fashion and now she’s buying the paint for Zoro. Pretty much the same thing.
Kourtney loves meat so much that she makes her own charcuterie boards. It’s also important to mention that she does not eat hamburger buns or hot dog buns and much prefers lettuce wraps.
Please take a moment to note that Jimmy B. and Jim B. are not the same person. One of them has wayyyyy more tattoos than the other. (Hint: It’s Jimmy.) Jimmy comes to Zoro after a long career as a sonar technician in the Navy. He joined the Navy because his wife (also a sonar technician) joined and he wanted to follow her to sea. He describes himself as, “A gemini who likes to have fun but can also turn on and off the business.” Don’t worry, Jimmy, we’ve seen you turn on and off the business and we’re into it.
Jimmy has a wife (whom he married 3 times), 3 kids, 2 dogs, and 1 cat. He coaches youth wrestling, youth football, and loves doing stuff with his family. He named his cat after Ragnar Lothbrok, so we’re assuming his cat is just as tough as the rest of the family.
Jimmy was born and raised in Aurora, Illinois and was happy to return to the Land of Lincoln after his 9 year engagement in Norfolk, VA. He affectionately refers to Norfolk as “America’s armpit.”
Jimmy likes menudo, a lot. Just to be clear, we mean the Mexican breakfast dish: not the band.
Melody’s previous work experience includes a stint as a preschool teacher, which will serve her well here at Zoro. We are quite zany at times. She also says she is bringing to work “a positive attitude and a contagious smile.” Hopefully that is all that is contagious, because we do NOT want another episode around here like the “Great Sneezing Debacle” of 2013. The other talent she counts among her great skills is “losing socks like it’s my job.” We’ll find a place within the organization for that unique ability, don’t worry.
Melody practices yoga and plays the guitar. We are really hoping that at the next annual company talent show, she strums Jimi Hendrix’s “All Along The Watchtower” while in the Downward-Facing Dog position. She says she wants to work at a company that feels like family. Well, good news, Melody, you’ve come to the right place. And we have plenty of socks.
Melody’s favorite food is tacos and her favorite drink is chocolate milk and we are all really hoping that she does not consume both of those at the same time … at least not at our table in the cafeteria.
Russell is one of our product managers here at Zoro. So, he … manages products? Probably. We think he manages our pneumatics categories and pneu a lot about those categories before coming here. Russell loves skateboarding, loves the city of Chicago, and loves food.
When Russell was a kid he learned how to grill at Soldier Field. His family are Bears fans and every fall they go tailgating, which inevitably ends up being more fun than watching the Bears lose. Thus: a grilling legend was born. Still, to this day, Russell is the griller around the house. His girlfriend loves to cook, and he’s her humble sous chef, but when it comes to meat? Grill, please.
Russell is one of the people who lives in Chicago and actually knows things about the city, which is nice. He can tell you the best place to get pizza, the best place to drink a cold one outside, and he can tell you where the biggest urinal in the world is. He also loves backpacking and adventuring … maybe he’ll backpack the Chicago underground and can tell us where the best restaurants down there are?
Russell lives in Humboldt Park, this is pretty fitting. He’s a pretty humble guy.
Born and raised in Beverly Hills, Robert enjoys playing tennis and beach volleyball. Robert is not from that Beverly Hills, the one with the opulent estates, palm-tree line streets and luxurious hotels. He comes from the racially and ethnically diverse neighborhood in Chicago, who got its name from the glacial ridge just west of Longwood Drive, the highest point in Chicago. Robert comes from a part of the country where the beach volleyball season along the shores of Lake Michigan only last several weeks and tennis is mainly played indoors.
Tall, funny and unassuming, Robert says his greatest musical talent is reciting rap lyrics. He can often be heard rapping 2 Chainz (the R.A. Dickey of rap – the older he gets, the better he gets) songs under his breath while going from meeting to meeting. Although he’s tall, Robert says that one thing he’d like to improve about himself is that he wishes he could dunk. He cannot rest while the dunk remains elusive…
How does a boy from Two Rivers, WI end up as Product Specialist at Zoro? By way of Japan, duh!
After studying International Business at St. Norbert college, Troy embarked on the adventure of a lifetime by teaching English in Japan. He arrived just a few months after the earthquake and tsunami of 2011 (also known as the Great Sendai Earthquake) and lent a hand on the ravaged coast whenever possible.
It’s been a few years since Troy was in Japan and he’s back to his slacker ways, doing things like running, playing basketball and golf. When he has an hour of free time he enjoys cooking a nice meal (don’t get too excited, ladies – he’s been married since 2014!) Oh, and his current goal in life is to finish a marathon in under four hours, which explains why we see him running to and from meetings…
He was Born in Rock Island, Illinois, but was whisked away to the desert in Arizona at a young age. This explains why, despite living in Arizona for the majority of his life, he’s still a Bears and Cubs fan … a big one. Jonathan’s love of sports knows no bounds. He is a huge ASU football fan. He also casually disclosed that he owns a pair of Kobe Bryant’s signed game shoes, as if it were no big deal. It’s a big deal, Jonathan.
Jonathan is moving here from the great desert and is absolutely ready to be done living out of a suitcase. He took a trip to Singapore once and found a boat on top of a hotel and a floating soccer field ... It sounds like that trip was a dream, but we’ll believe you. He also strongly recommends trying Singaporean Chili Crab. (Really, it sounds delicious.)
When he gets a chance to kick back, one of Jonathan’s favorite things to do is to watch some Chris Farley movies. He has a window. And why shouldn’t he? He’s been here ten minutes!
Jonathan also owns a Masters flag that was signed by Phil Mickelson, who he has met.
It’s extremely important to note, above all else, that Albert was once assaulted with a baguette at a wedding. How he survived this altercation, we’ll never know ... but we’re glad he did. Albert works on the pricing team here at Zoro and has a passion for attaching numbers to stuff.
Before Albert’s time at Zoro he had an onslaught of life experiences worth mentioning. Most notably, Albert was a bongo player on Ke$ha’s “Warrior Tour” and made sure to keep beating the beat.
Less exciting, but still notable: Albert was featured on the cover of Time Magazine in 2006 as “Person of the Year.” He is proud of this achievement and would like to thank his parents, Anton from IT, and the ball he sits on at work.
Albert is still salty about losing the Game of Thrones Board Game (Edition 2) over a year ago. Valar Morghulis, Albert.
Jason is most famous around the office for having lost his name in the infamous Name Wars of 2015. Jason T, from Analytics, challenged him to a very public game of ping pong to reclaim the name Jason and now Jason A. goes by Jay. Jay did, however, win our office award for “Most Caffeinated.”
Jay calls himself an “Agent of Chaos” and attributes his career in pricing to this. Nice try, Jay. We know the truth: you’re a HUGE Bob Barker fanboy and have always wanted to get the price right. Now we know who Scruffles, Jay’s dog, has to thank for his neuter.
In Jay’s free time he likes to practice spelling his own last name (you’ll get it someday!) and window washing. If it weren’t for his love of Bob Barker he likely would have been the world’s most famous window washer.
Scruffles is awesome, that is all.
The year is 2178. Ruins lie where cities once stood. There is a cold breeze wafting by and a hint of maple syrup smell in the draft. Life is scarce, but among the ruins stands one human woman: Sam. She was cryogenically frozen after the great homepage wars of 2017 and has woken up to a world anew. She is here, ready to continue making Zoro.com the best place in the world to shop, and even the end of the world won’t stop her.
Before the age of destruction, Sam specialized in balloon-animal creation. She attended college at the Newark Institute of Balloon Animals and majored in giraffes. She graduated with helium honors.
It is difficult to have hobbies in this new age, but Sam greatly enjoys making toast sculptures. In case you are reading this before the Age of Toast Art: toast sculptures are toasted bread that is then smashed together to make the image of the human figure. The only tools available are bread, butter, and heat. Sam is thankful to have found a creative outlet in this time of reckoning.
Sam created a time machine to send this bio back in time so that modern-day Zoro would know her plight.
There once was a lady named Jerilee,
She ran around the office merrily,
She put some tickets in JIRA,
And mitigated the fear-of,
Initiatives not being coordinated verily.
Jerilee is our resident beam of light and sentient energy. She runs around the office spreading cheer and organizing sprints as if there were no tomorrow. Does she know something we don’t?
In her spare time she likes to bike, spend time "studying" wine, hanging out with her kids, and educate everyone about her true love, Christian Bale.
Jerilee is infectiously cheerful. Stay away unless you want to be afflicted with happiness and joy.
Margaret, our graphic designer and web couturier, makes sure Zoro is as cute as a button and enforces branding guidelines like a fierce mother protecting her children. Believe us, no one dares to use Pantone Metallic 8181 without her permission. Also, she actually is a fierce mother who protects her children with her husband Dominik. When not designing emails, flyers, landing pages, newsletters, catalogs, calendars, mailers, ads, and banners, she likes to sit and read an awesome book with some coffee. She hopes to soon do so at a Parisian café, but we just have too many projects for her. Zoro.com won’t design itself!
A native of Poland, Margaret has degrees in both Graphic Design and Photography. You’re actually looking at her handiwork right now, as a matter of fact. That’s so meta, right?! In addition to the visual arts, she is really passionate about her family and hopes to take them to New Zealand to participate in the tribal Maori haka dance where you stomp around, stick out your tongue, and scream. Her kids already do it anyway, so they’re all set. She says her worst characteristic is being a perfectionist. But we really don’t want her to work on fixing that.
Margaret absolutely loves Zoro, both the company and the cute little fox guy.
John is our resident master builder. Be it Lego masterpieces or web pages, John is making it happen. John is also a total goofball. Be careful what you send to him on instant messenger, because he will find a crass and/or perplexing gif to send in response.
In addition to being a master builder, John aspires to be a racecar driver. John also aspires to be a car guy. He likes to think he’s a car guy, but we have it on good authority that he drives a 4-cylinder automatic … so … yeah.
John loves Korean BBQ, gaming, and his pal, Luis.
John’s real name is Xu. What are Xu talking about, John?
If SEO is the dark arts of the Internet, then Vlad is our warlock. Vladimir likes napping, his wife and kids, and geopolitics. In his spare time he likes to read.
Vlad wears some really snappy shirts. Or are they buttons?
