About Pump Gaskets
The pump gasket is like other gaskets in that it fills the space between two or more mating surfaces, but it has a more specialized job: it fills the gap between the engine or motor and the pump. Very often found in vehicles with fuel pumps or water pumps, pump gaskets are also used in plumbing systems that include water pumps. Pipe and plumbing flanges are closely related, and are typically used when pipes need to be connected. Despite its utility and widespread use, pump gaskets do wear out—that’s when you’ll want to shop for replacement gaskets.
