What are Abrasives?
Abrasives remove and smooth rough edges, nicks, burrs, and notches from materials such as wood, metal, and steel. Grinding wheels and cut-off wheels finish a variety of surfaces including glass, wood, metal, and concrete. Abrasives are made from minerals, a mix of synthetics and minerals, or solely synthetic materials. Common minerals used to make abrasives include aluminum oxide, cubic boron nitride, and silicon carbide. Abrasives come in a wide range of grits ranging approximately from 12 to 1,200.
