AC Cooling Tower Motors
In some HVAC systems, a cooling tower is used to dissipate heat from a chiller. The AC cooling tower motors used in these applications are 3-phase direct drive motors that are totally enclosed in cast iron housings and typically mounted within the air stream to ensure a motor-cooling air-over airflow. Most contain internal fans to help cool them, as well. Items vary by horsepower, voltage, full load amps, RPM, shaft diameter and other considerations. Brands include WEG electric motors and Marathon electric motors. For more specialized or definite purpose motors, see hazardous location motors and AC air compressor motors.
