Box Nails

With a thinner shank than common nails, box nails are less likely to cause splints in wood but also have less holding power, so they are typically used on lighter pieces of wood and on boxes (nothing that requires structural strength). Box nails range in lengths from one to five inches long and size 2d to 40d and are ideal for small projects such as hanging small pictures or lightweight wall decorations.
