Coalescing filter elements are an important part of any filtration system. They work to remove particles, dirt, and other impurities from liquids and gases in order to protect systems from damage or contamination. Coalescing filter elements are also used to separate two different types of fluids in a system.

Types of Coalescing Filter Elements

There are many different types of coalescing filter elements available, depending on the type of filtration needed. Some coalescing filters use polypropylene media while others use glass fiber or cellulose paper. Depending on the application, the size and configuration of the coalescing filter element may need to be adjusted for optimal performance.

How Coalescing Filter Elements Are Made

Coalescing filter elements are typically constructed with a pleated media made from synthetic fibers such as polyester or polypropylene. The pleats provide a large surface area for efficient filtration and increase the life of the element by trapping more particles before they reach downstream components. The most common type is a Watts Coalescing Filter Element which uses stainless steel mesh for added strength.

Industries That Use Coalescing Filter Elements

Coalescing filter elements are commonly used in industries such as oil and gas production, chemical processing, power generation, water treatment plants, automotive manufacturing, food processing facilities and breweries. Professionals who work with these industries rely on these filter elements to keep their systems safe from contamination or damage caused by debris.
