A duty belt is a wide, leather belt that is worn around the waist and is used to hold equipment and gear. A harness, on the other hand, is a more complex system that includes a belt, shoulder straps, and leg straps. It is designed to distribute weight more evenly across the body, making it more comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.

Duty belts and harnesses are typically made from a variety of materials, including leather, nylon, and synthetic materials. Leather is a durable and strong material, but it can be heavy and uncomfortable to wear. Nylon is a lightweight and strong material, but it can be more expensive than leather. Synthetic materials are a good compromise between leather and nylon, offering a balance of durability, weight, and performance.

When choosing a duty belt or harness, it is important to consider the following features: the size and weight of the equipment you will be carrying, the comfort of the belt or harness, and the durability of the materials. It is also important to consider the specific requirements of your job or activity.

To care for a duty belt or harness, it is important to clean it regularly with a mild soap and water solution. It is also important to condition the leather or nylon with a leather or nylon conditioner to keep it from drying out and cracking. When not in use, store your duty belt or harness in a cool, dry place.
