An escape hood is a portable, self-contained breathing device designed to provide temporary respiratory protection from hazardous gases, smoke, and other contaminants during emergencies or evacuation situations.

Respirators provide ongoing respiratory protection against specific hazards, while escape hoods are designed for short-term use during emergencies or to facilitate evacuation from hazardous environments.

Factors to consider include the specific hazards present, the work environment, the user's comfort and fit, and the anticipated duration of use.

Regular maintenance and inspection are crucial for ensuring optimal performance and safety. Follow manufacturer guidelines and consult safety professionals to establish a proper maintenance schedule and ensure the equipment functions as intended.
