Filament tapes are a type of adhesive tape that are commonly used in a variety of industries for their high strength and durability. They are typically made of polypropylene or polyester with glass fibers embedded in the tape for added strength. Filament tapes are used for a wide range of applications, from bundling and reinforcing packages to securing materials during shipping and handling.

Types of Filament Tapes

There are several types of filament tapes available, each with their own unique characteristics and properties. Strapping tape, for example, is a type of filament tape that is typically used for heavy-duty applications like bundling lumber or securing crates for transport. It is often wider and thicker than other types of filament tape and has a higher tensile strength. Polypropylene filament tape is another common type of filament tape that is typically used for lighter-duty applications like bundling or reinforcing boxes. It is thinner and more flexible than strapping tape, but still has a high tensile strength.

How Filament Tapes are Made

Filament tapes are typically made by laminating a layer of polypropylene or polyester film with a layer of glass fibers. The film provides the tape with flexibility and durability, while the glass fibers provide added strength and rigidity. The tape is then coated with an adhesive and wound onto a roll for easy dispensing. The thickness and width of the tape can vary depending on the specific application it is designed for.

Industries that use Filament Tapes

Many industries rely on the strength and durability of filament tapes for their packaging and shipping needs. The manufacturing industry, for example, uses filament tapes to bundle and reinforce materials during production and transport. The construction industry also uses filament tapes for securing building materials and packaging construction supplies. Shipping and logistics companies use filament tapes to secure packages and prevent damage during transport. Finally, the automotive industry uses filament tapes for a range of applications, including securing parts during assembly and reinforcing packaging for transport.
