Flap Discs are abrasive tools designed to grind, sand, polish, and finish a variety of materials. They are composed of overlapping flaps that are attached to a hub or backing plate. Flap Discs come in a variety of sizes and shapes and can be used with angle grinders, bench grinders, or other rotary tools.

Types of Flap Discs

Flap Discs come in various sizes ranging from 4 inch discs to 9 inch discs. They also vary in terms of the abrasive material used such as zirconium flap discs, aluminum oxide flap discs, ceramic flap discs, etc. Depending on the material being worked on and the desired finish different types of flap discs may be needed.

How Flap Discs are Made

Flap Discs are made by adhering multiple abrasive flaps onto a hub or backing plate using pressure-sensitive adhesive. The abrasive material is typically bonded to the backing plate with resin which helps keep it firmly secured while providing flexibility during use.

Industries that use Flap Discs

Flap Discs have become an essential tool for professionals working in industries such as metal fabrication, automotive repair and maintenance, welding and fabrication shops, woodworking shops and more. They are used for grinding down weld seams, removing rust from metal surfaces, polishing metal parts and more.
