About Floor Finishes and Sealers
Floor finishes protect floor surfaces from wear and tear and scuff marks, and their glossy shine promotes a safe and clean appearance. They are the synthetic alternative to floor wax (which is usually derived from nature, such as carnauba from palm trees). Floor finishes consist of polymers to add strength and dirt resistance, resins that level out the finish, and plasticizers, surfactants and wax emulsions to provide evenness, spreadability, glossiness, hardness and slip resistance.They are generally available in 5 gallon and 1 gallon sizes. Floor sealers are generally applied before the floor finish. The larger polymers in sealers fill the smallest pores, cracks and imperfections in the floor surface, providing protection as well as a smooth, even, surface and making routine cleaning easier.
