About Floor Sanding Discs
Floor sanding discs are abrasive materials used to sand down wood floors and other hard surfaces. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and grits for different applications.
Types of Floor Sanding Discs
Abrasive sanding discs are the most common type of floor sanding disc used for general-purpose wood floor refinishing. These discs come in various sizes from small 4-inch diameter pads to large 20-inch diameter discs. For concrete floors, concrete floor sanding pads or discs may be used instead. Floor machine sanding discs are designed for use with heavy-duty industrial floor machines and can be used on both hardwood and concrete floors.
How Floor Sanding Discs Are Made
Floor sanding discs are made from a combination of abrasive compounds such as aluminum oxide or silicon carbide bonded together with a resin backing material. The abrasive compound is then cut into different shapes depending on the application such as round disks or square pads.
Industries that Use Floor Sanding Discs
Floor sanders use floor sander disc attachments to quickly remove old finishes from hardwood floors, while professional painters often use them to prepare walls and ceilings for painting. Professional janitorial services also use these types of products to buff out scuff marks on vinyl tile or linoleum floors.
