Punch and Die Sets
For a machine shop, punch and die sets are standard issue. With a punch and die set, holes of a particular shape are punched in sheet metal and other sheeted materials such as plastic, paper or rubber. The metal punch strikes through the sheet into a fitted die. The die catches the slug, or cutting. Sets vary by the number of punches, punch shape, number of dies or I.D. pilots, types of inclusions and other considerations.
