What are square broaches used for?

Square broaches are precision cutting tools designed to create square-shaped holes in various materials, including metal and plastic. They are commonly used in manufacturing processes that require precise hole geometries, such as the production of gears, molds, and tooling.

What materials are square broaches made of?

Square broaches are typically made from high-quality tool steels, such as high-carbon steel or alloy steels, to ensure durability and longevity. These materials provide the necessary strength and wear resistance to withstand the demanding cutting forces involved in broaching operations.

How does a square broach work?

Square broaches have a series of cutting teeth arranged in a helical pattern along their length. When the broach is inserted into a pre-drilled hole, the cutting teeth gradually engage with the material, removing metal and enlarging the hole to a square shape. The precise geometry of the teeth ensures the production of accurate and consistent square holes.

What are the advantages of using square broaches?

Square broaches offer several advantages in manufacturing applications: Precision: Square broaches produce highly precise and accurate square holes with minimal tolerance variations. Versatility: They can be used on various materials, including steel, aluminum, brass, and plastic. Efficiency: Broaching is a relatively efficient process, as it creates square holes in a single operation, eliminating the need for multiple machining steps. Durability: Square broaches are made from durable materials, ensuring a long lifespan and consistent performance.

Square Broaches & Metric Broaches

About Square Broaches

Square Broaches are a type of metric tool used to cut and shape metal or other materials into specific shapes. They can be used in various industries, including automotive, aerospace, and construction.

Types of Square Broaches

Square Broaches come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Commonly used broaches include flat-faced square broaches, single-point square broaches, double-point square broaches, and multi-start square broaches.

Materials used for Square Broaches

Square Broaches are usually made from high-grade steel or titanium alloys. These materials allow the tools to withstand high levels of pressure and friction while cutting through metals.

Industries that use Square Broches

Square Broches are commonly used by machinists, engineers, fabricators, and other professionals who work with metal or other materials. They are also used in the automotive industry for engine parts production as well as in aerospace for creating aircraft components.
