Striking and Slugging Wrenches
Striking wrenches and slugging wrenches (AKA hammer wrench, slogging wrench, slug wrench, knocker wrench) are the heavy duty, extreme force tool to use when a nut, bolt, or other rotary fastener is affixed too tightly, or sealed by paint or corrosion. One end of these wrenches is the wrench head that fits over, and turns, the fastener and other end is a solid flat head used to receive taps or strikes from a hammer in order to provide the extra torque needed to loosen the fastener gripped by the wrench head. Items vary by length, finish, handle type, number of points, open or closed end, nominal size and other considerations. For other extreme force hand tools see our sledge hammers and dead blow hammers.
