There are three main types of welding screens: passive, active, and auto-darkening. Passive screens are the most basic type and do not provide any magnification or dimming. Active screens use a battery or solar panel to power an LCD that provides magnification and dimming. Auto-darkening screens use a sensor to automatically dim the screen when the arc is struck.

The size of the welding screen you need depends on the size of the welding area and the distance from the arc. A general rule of thumb is to choose a screen that is at least 12 inches wider and 6 inches taller than the welding area. For example, if you are welding a 6-inch piece of metal, you would need a screen that is at least 18 inches wide and 12 inches tall.

Welding screens protect your eyes from harmful UV radiation and sparks. They can also help to reduce glare and eyestrain. In addition, welding screens can be used to observe the weld pool and to ensure that the weld is being made properly.

When choosing a welding screen, you should consider the following factors: the type of welding you are doing, the size of the welding area, the distance from the arc, and your personal preferences. Passive screens are the most basic option, while active screens provide magnification and dimming and auto-darkening screens offer the best protection and comfort. Ultimately, the best way to choose a welding screen is to try out different models and see which one works best for you.
