The episcopic illuminator includes removable polarizer and analyzer, as well as adjustable field and aperture diaphragms. The plan-achromatic optical system offers sharp, flat-field images with excellent color-correction. The Siedentopf head with dual diopters and high-eyepoint eyepieces provides a comfortable and adjustable viewing platform. Change magnifications quickly using the objective turret without significant refocusing thanks to the parfocal design. Using the included 10X and 20X eyepieces and a combination of metallurgical and biological objective lenses, the magnification range spans from 40X to 1000X with nine unique settings. The lenses are achromatically corrected for improved resolution, and flat-field corrected to ensure edge-to-edge sharpness.
