Peroxide Testing Kits
Description
This is a time-sensitive reaction requiring from 0 to 20 seconds Designed for testing food grade hydrogen peroxide (or other oxidizing agents) Very High Level Peroxide Test Strips measure Peroxide solutions from 2% to 10% The Time Sensitive Peroxide test strip, 2-10%, is a time sensitive strip for testing highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide solutions (“food grade”). The concentration of the solution being tested is determined by the length of time it takes the color to change to black. Instructions: Dip the Time Sensitive Peroxide test strip into the solution for 1-2 seconds. Do not swirl. Remove strip, and hold level. Do not shake off excess water. Evaluate the color of the test pad beginning at 0 seconds. Results: The white test pad will turn purple, then black. After removing the test strip from the solution you must time how long it takes for the strip to become black. Note: If the solution is for contact lenses, the solution (3%) will remain white for 20 seconds, then turn black. How to measure the concentration of 35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide: The Time Sensitive Peroxide test strip can also be used to confirm the strength of 35% food grade peroxide by mixing 1 part 35% peroxide solution with 2.5 parts water to yield a concentration of 10%. If the color change is not immediate, then the initial concentration was not 35% (or a mistake was made in the dilution). Try other dilutions to zero in on the actual strength, e.g. 1:6 should give you 5%; etc. Sample Reactions The numbers in brackets for 1, 2, 3 percent are for contact lens solutions. The 1 and 2 percent values are based on dilutions of the 3% product, and thus are only estimates. Tests are based on CIBA Geigy AOSEPT and may differ for other similar products.
