Cobalt End Mills
A cobalt end mill is a type of rotary cutter or lathe tool that is used in higher speed milling applications and/or in the milling of harder steels and titanium alloys. Square end mills enable the creation of sharp features, while ball nose end mills make softer, more contoured or scalloped shapes, grooves and edges. Items vary by shank diameter, milling diameter, length of cut, number of flutes and other considerations. The more flutes, the higher higher the feed rate, and the fewer the flutes, the faster the chip clearance. To minimize chances for mill breakage, most machinists try to use the shortest end mill that will work for their application.
