Common Nails are a type of fastener used to hold two pieces of material together. They are most commonly used in woodworking and carpentry, but can be used for many other applications as well.

Types of Common Nails

Common Nails come in a variety of sizes and shapes, including 8d and 16d common nails. The diameter is measured in pennyweight (d) which indicates the nail’s size relative to its length. Additionally, Common Nails typically have flat heads that make them easy to countersink into wood or other materials.

How Common Nails are Made

Common Nails are made from steel wire that has been cut, forged, and hardened. The tips are usually rounded off or cut at an angle to make them easier to drive into wood or other materials.

Industries that use Common Nails

Common Nails are widely used by professionals in construction, carpentry, framing, roofing, siding installation, and furniture making. They can also be used for projects around the home such as hanging pictures or repairing furniture.
