An emergency eyewash station is a safety device specifically designed for providing immediate and accessible flushing of the eyes in case of an emergency involving hazardous or corrosive substances.

Emergency eyewash stations should be strategically placed near areas where there is a potential risk of eye exposure to hazardous materials, such as laboratories, industrial workplaces, and chemical storage areas.

There are two main types of emergency eyewash stations: gravity-fed and plumbed. Gravity-fed stations utilize a reservoir to hold the eyewash solution, while plumbed stations connect directly to a water source.

Emergency eyewash stations operate by delivering a continuous flow of eyewash solution to the user's eyes. The solution is typically a sterile or buffered saline solution that helps to remove contaminants and neutralize harmful substances.
