Fiberglass is a strong, lightweight material that has been used for decades in a variety of industries. It is composed of glass fibers combined with a resin to form an incredibly strong and versatile composite material. Fiberglass can be found in many different forms, such as bar stock, flat stock, and raw materials.

Types of Fiberglass

Fiberglass bar stock is commonly used when strength and rigidity are the primary goals. Flat fiberglass stock is often used when the goal is to create something thin but still durable. Raw fiberglass materials are ideal for custom projects or repairs where specific shapes or sizes are needed.

How Fiberglass are Made

Fiberglassing materials typically involve combining glass fibers with resin to form an extremely tough composite material. The type of resin used will depend on the desired properties of the end product; polyester resins are generally cheaper but less durable than epoxy resins.

Industries that use Fiberglass

Fiberglass can be found in a variety of industries including aerospace, automotive manufacturing, shipbuilding, construction, electrical engineering and more. Professionals from these fields use fiberglassing materials to create components that offer durability and strength at a lower weight than traditional metals.
