E309L-16 stainless steel electrodes are designed for welding 22% Cr-12% Ni stainless steel, heat-resistant castings, and dissimilar metals. These rods are ideal for joining Cr-Mo or carbon steel to stainless steel, offering excellent fusion and strength. Their lime titania coating ensures a stable arc and smooth weld appearance in all positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical-up, and overhead. The deposited weld metal has an austenitic structure with suitable ferrite content, providing strong crack resistance and superior intergranular corrosion resistance compared to E309 electrodes. They can be used with both AC and DC+ power sources for versatility across different welding applications. Electrodes should be redried at 250-350°C for 30-60 minutes before use to ensure optimal performance.
