Timing Pulleys and Belts also referred to as synchronous timing belt systems use pocketed toothed structure to align synchronous movement between shafts. The teeth built into a timing pulley assure the rotation of each shaft is linked to one another. The mode of contact between the belt and pulley ensures rotary alignment and timing.The slip-resistant properties of synchronous pulleys lowers the amount of belt tension necessary to maintain consistent rotation. Less belt tension reduces lubrication requirements and minimizes bearing load on each shaft element. Relative to asynchronous pulley, chain or gear drives, timing belt pulleys are far easier to implement and maintain.
