Ferretonin is a safe alternative to surgery for hyperadrenal ferrets. It is a melatonin implant the size of a microchip that comes in a gas-sterilized, pre-loaded, disposable, implanting device. It is indicated for the treatment of adrenal disease in ferrets to promote hair re-growth, reduce aggressive/mating behavior, promote weight and muscle gain, eliminate itchy skin and odor problems, reduce urination difficulties and reduce swollen vulvas in females.
