About Needle Thrust Bearings
Unlike round ball bearings, needle thrust bearings are cylinder-shaped, and act like rollers that can handle heavy axial loads and prevent stress peaks. A roller bearing uses the same cylinder bearing, but are housed in a spherical roller and corrects angular misalignments, and is used in turbines, pumps, and gearboxes. Unlike a roller bearing, a needle bearing is housed in a wider, non-rotating housing, and is used in compressors and transmissions. Zoro has other bearings, including thrust ball bearings and thrust washers too.
