We recommend using two 4 x 4 legs yes measurement: 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 and one 4 x 6 top beam yes measurement: 3-1/2 x 5-1/2. The bracket openings measure 3.62 inches x 5.62 inches, respectively. We strongly advise measuring your lumber before purchase to ensure it meets these specifications. Warning! Do not force the wood into the bracket; the lumber should slide in easily with a snug fit. If your boards are too large, we recommend planing them down for a comfortable fit.
