Description

Castle nuts get their name from the fact that they resemble a castle's parapet. When a cotter pin is inserted through the slots and a hole in the fastener, the nut will be locked into place and can resist loosening due to vibration. Without inserting a pin or wire to lock the nut in place, a castle nut functions just like a standard hex nut.
