Colonial Style Door Knobs, 1/4 In. Square Drive, Wrought Steel Design Single Pack

These vintage style door knobs are constructed of steel and come in a brass-plated finish. This set of knobs is designed for indoor use only, and it includes one 2-3/4 in. steel spindle, and one 3-5/8 in. steel spindle with 3/8 in.-20 threads. This colonial style knob set fits 1/4 in. square drive spindle systems commonly found in antique and vintage door hardware sets, and with the two (2) provided square spindles, it can adjust to accommodate doors of different thicknesses. These knobs feature a wrought steel Colonial design, and they have a 2-1/4 in. outside diameter with a rope embossed design on their face. The knob shanks include setscrews for securing the knobs to the square spindle. All other components of matching vintage design must be purchased separately, to include the internal mortise lock body, the door rosettes, the trim and strike plates, or the latch and fasteners. Note: This item cannot be used on pre-bored doors that have large, newer style doorknob holes without first plugging them to receive this hardware. *Installation tip: Because the fasteners of the rosettes (purchased separately) require a solid surface to mount to, the large 2-1/8 in. (approximate size) knob holes must first be filled with a hardening filler, to then be able to receive the rosette fasteners. Products like Fix-It-All and Bondo Body Filler have worked well for some, but care must be used to avoid damaging any prefinished door surfaces during application and finishing.
