Rubber-Cal’s General Purpose Rubber is a durable and cost-effective synthetic rubber sheet that can be used for a wide range of applications. These sheets of rubber are made from a reliable rubber material called styrene butadiene rubber (SBR). The synthetic elastomer goes through a chemical heating process called vulcanization to achieve the smooth finish and long-lasting industrial strength that styrene rubber is known for. This SBR sheet has a durometer of 60A, which gives the material a moderately hard surface with a little pliability. The hard sheet rubber has good resistance to indentation and abrasions, making it perfect for heavy-duty applications.
Unlike other uses of synthetic rubber, this elastomer sheeting is designed to withstand the harsh conditions of the outdoors. The sheet rubber material is impervious to moisture and damaging weather effects such as UV rays or ozone. With a working temperature range from -10° F to 190° F, this high-density rubber sheet maintains excellent performance, even in extreme heat. This makes the rubber sheets ideal for industrial and commercial applications, as the SBR material can handle the intense friction of heavy machinery without being worn down. Our General Purpose synthetic rubber is specially designed to handle such extreme conditions.
Artificial rubber is highly valued for its abilities to enhance traction and absorb shock. Any sound, vibration, or movement that comes into contact with the hard rubber sheet is absorbed by it, and reduced by spreading it evenly across the surface. This makes the flexible rubber sheet great for a limitless possibility of applications—everything from protective padding to soundproofing or insulation. This 1/8” rubber sheet is the second thinnest of five gauges available and works best for flexible applications such as seals, gaskets, and industrial lining. The thin sheet rubber can also be cut into small pieces for even more possible applications. These self-adhesive rubber sheets are versatile and come with pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing for easy DIY installation in any desired application.
