Rubber-Cal’s General Purpose Rubber is a durable and cost-effective rubber sheeting that can be used for a wide range of applications. These adhesive-backed rubber sheets are made from a reliable artificial rubber called styrene butadiene rubber (SBR). The thick rubber sheets go through a chemical heating process called vulcanization to achieve the smooth finish and long-lasting industrial strength that rubber SBR is known for. This solid rubber has a durometer of 60A, which gives the material a moderately hard surface with a little pliability. The synthetic elastomer has good resistance to indentation and abrasions, making it perfect for heavy-duty applications.
Styrene rubber, unlike other synthetic rubber compounds, is designed to withstand the harsh conditions of the outdoors. The rubber sheets are impervious to moisture and damaging weather effects such as UV rays or ozone. With a working temperature range from -10° F to 190° F, this hard rubber sheet maintains excellent performance, even in extreme heat. This makes the elastomer sheeting ideal for industrial and commercial applications, as the synthetic rubber material can handle the intense friction of heavy machinery without being worn down. The thick rubber sheeting can also be cut into small pieces for even more possible uses, such as making seals and gaskets.
