Description

Rubber-Cal’s Neoprene rubber is a tough synthetic rubber that is ideal for industrial applications. Neoprene rubber, also called by its chemical name chloroprene, was developed by DuPont in the 1930s to meet the demand for an outdoor rubber with chemical resistance. While other synthetic elastomers degrade quickly under intense physical conditions, rubber neoprene is designed to endure. Our neoprene sheet rubber is actually a synthetic rubber compound, made with a 10% neoprene material base and a blend of styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) and chloroprene rubber (CR) to give it the strength of both artificial rubbers. This mix of rubber materials gives the neoprene sheeting moderate resistance to oils, chemicals, and many damaging effects of weather. The result is a smooth, solid rubber that is highly desired for commercial and industrial applications.
The unique SBR and neoprene blend that makes up Rubber-Cal’s Neoprene sheeting gives it great resistance to many substances that can easily degrade other types of synthetic rubbers. The neoprene material holds up against acetic acids, petroleum-based solvents, and certain oils and chemicals without showing wear for a long time. Rubber neoprene is also highly valued in outdoor applications, as it can withstand UV rays, ozone, and damaging weather effects. Though other kinds of rubber material may have stronger resistance to some of these conditions, no other material offers the diverse cumulation of resistance that neoprene rubber does. Our Neoprene sheet rubber offers excellent all-around resistance, making it versatile enough for indoor and outdoor applications alike.
Another key feature of neoprene sheet rubber is its intense temperature range and resistance. This solid neoprene performs well in temperatures from -20° to 212° F, which makes it the ideal choice for most industrial applications. No need to worry about high temperatures or heavy abrasions damaging the neoprene material; this 3/4" sheet rubber is the second thickest option available and works best in high-stress physical applications. Our rubber neoprene comes in 10 different gauges to ensure the proper fit for any desired application. Different applications may also require varying levels of neoprene hardness. This soft neoprene has a durometer of 50A, giving it a firm surface while allowing a reasonable amount of flexibility. The 50-durometer neoprene is strong yet pliable, making it versatile enough for any application from insulation to industrial gasketing. This heavy-duty neoprene is the ideal industrial synthetic rubber material.
