Introduced by the DuPont Company in the 1930s, neoprene elastomer is a versatile material designed to meet the demand for a chemical and outdoor resistant rubber material. While other synthetic rubber materials may degrade quickly under intense physical conditions, this neoprene rubber is designed to endure. Our sheet neoprene is actually a powerful synthetic rubber compound made up of SBR rubber and chloroprene rubber to inherit the strengths of both sheet rubber materials. The result is a reliable and resilient neoprene with a sleek, black finish. Thanks to this mix of synthetic elastomers, the sheet neoprene has a moderate resistance to oils, chemicals, and many damaging effects of weather. This neoprene product has excellent abrasion resistance and works great in industrial and commercial applications.
This neoprene rubber has a wide range of resistance thanks to the unique sheet rubber compound that makes it up. The neoprene material has moderate resistance to substances that can easily degrade other synthetic rubber types. Acetic acids, petroleum-based solvents, and certain oils and chemicals are no match for this tough rubber neoprene, which also has great outdoor abilities. This sheet neoprene is highly valued in outdoor applications, as it can withstand UV rays, ozone, and damaging weather effects without showing wear for a long time. Though other types of rubber material may have stronger resistance to some of these conditions, only solid neoprene offers this diverse cumulation of resistance. Neoprene sheets are favored in industrial applications for their intense temperature range and resistance. High temperatures caused by friction and industrial machinery are no match for this thick neoprene, which performs in temperatures from -20° to 212° F. Our hard sheet rubber is available in 10 different gauges to ensure the proper fit for any desired application. This 3/8” neoprene is one of the thicker options available and works best in high-stress physical applications. Different applications may also require varying levels of neoprene shore hardness. This rubber neoprene has a durometer of 70 shore A to give it a very hard surface with minimal flexibility. The 70-durometer neoprene is stiff and works best in highly abrasive applications such as neoprene pads or bumpers. The black rubber sheeting can also be cut down and used to make neoprene strips, gaskets, and seals. This versatile rubber neoprene is the perfect material for high-stress applications of any kind.
