Description
Rubber-Cal’s Neoprene sheet rubber is a tough synthetic elastomer that is ideal for industrial applications. Introduced by the DuPont Company in the 1930s, chloroprene (neoprene) is a versatile material designed to meet the demand for a chemical and outdoor resistant rubber material. While other types of synthetic rubber may degrade quickly under intense physical conditions, this solid neoprene is designed to endure. Our sheet neoprene is actually a powerful synthetic rubber compound made up of styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) and chloroprene rubber (CR) to inherit the strengths of both rubber materials. The result is a reliable and resilient neoprene sheet with a sleek, black finish. Thanks to this mix of synthetic rubber materials, the hard neoprene has a moderate resistance to oils, chemicals, and many damaging effects of weather. This neoprene rubber has excellent abrasion resistance and works great in industrial and commercial applications.
The key feature of this heavy-duty neoprene is its wide range of resistance. Thanks to the unique neoprene elastomer compound that makes it up, Rubber Cal’s sheet neoprene has moderate resistance to acetic acids, petroleum-based solvents, and certain oils and chemicals. This durable neoprene is designed to stand up to these substances that can easily degrade other synthetic rubbers. This neoprene rubber is also highly valued in outdoor applications, as it can withstand UV rays, ozone, and damaging weather effects without showing wear for a long time. Though other kinds of rubber material may have stronger resistance to some of these conditions, no other material offers the diverse cumulation of resistance that this neoprene rubber does. Our industrial neoprene offers excellent all-around resistance, making it versatile enough for indoor and outdoor applications alike.
Another key feature of this rubber neoprene is its intense temperature range and resistance. The neoprene material performs well in temperatures from -20° to 212° F, which makes it the ideal choice for most industrial applications. No need to worry about high temperatures or heavy abrasions damaging the neoprene sheet; this 1/4” sheet rubber is one of the thicker options available and works best in high-stress physical applications. Our thick neoprene comes in several different gauges, lengths, and widths to ensure the proper fit for any desired application. Different applications may also require varying levels of neoprene durometer. This neoprene sheet has a durometer of 80A to give it a stiff and hard surface with extremely limited flexibility. The 80-durometer neoprene is heavy-duty and works best in highly abrasive applications such as neoprene padding or bumpers. The hard rubber sheets can also be cut down and used to make neoprene gaskets, liners, and seals. This versatile rubber neoprene is the perfect material for high-stress applications of any kind.
