Shears, Pruners & Loppers
About Shears, Pruners & Loppers
Revitalize and improve the look of trees, hedges and shrubs by shaping and pruning with shears, pruners and loppers. Remove branches (generally up to 2 inches in diameter) of trees and large shrubs with a lopper. Pruners are a smaller handheld tool used to cut smaller branches. After the pruner handles are compressed, a spring mechanism opens the blades back into ready-to-cut mode. Both pruners and loppers can consist of either bypass blades (ala scissors), or anvil blades wherein only one of the two blades is sharp and the other serves as a blade rest to crush the branch against. And last but not least, shears are like large, spring loaded scissors that require to two hands to operate. They are used to give uniformed shape to the sides and tops of shrubs. And when you’re done with all that shearing, pruning and lopping, make quick work of those fallen trimmings with yard and shrub rakes.
