Spherical Rod Ends

Spherical rod ends (AKA Heim joints) are a type of plain bearing that contains a housing which, in turn, contains a spherical bearing ball with a hole bored in its middle into which rods are inserted. The ball rotates in the housing to allow the connected rods, which are misaligned, to pivot. These rod end bearings (AKA heim joint) differ by thread size, thread orientation, housing composition and other considerations.
