Spring hanger anchors are a particular type of spring hanger designed to provide highly flexible support for piping, conduit, and other suspended systems. They are composed of a helical spring, a top nut, and a bottom nut or bolt, which are used to attach the hanger to the supporting structure and the suspended load.

Spring hanger anchors offer several key advantages compared to other suspension methods. They provide vibration isolation, reducing the transmission of noise and vibration from the suspended load to the supporting structure. Additionally, they allow for thermal expansion and contraction of the suspended system, accommodating changes in temperature without causing excessive stress.

Spring hanger anchors operate based on the principle of spring action. The helical spring is pre-compressed during installation, creating an upward force that supports the suspended load. As the load increases, the spring compresses further, absorbing shock and vibration. Conversely, as the load decreases, the spring expands, maintaining tension in the system.

Spring hanger anchors come in various types, each designed for specific applications. Common types include: constant support hangers, variable spring hangers, sway braces, and clevis hangers. Constant support hangers provide a fixed support with minimal deflection, while variable spring hangers allow for adjustment of the spring force to accommodate changes in load. Sway braces prevent lateral movement of pipes or conduits, and clevis hangers provide a versatile connection point for attaching suspension rods or cables.
