Tekton dead blow sledge hammers have steel shot inside the head of the hammer to reduce the post-strike rebound that is common with other hammers and mallets, allowing for better-controlled hits to the workpiece. The hot-cast polyurethane jacket is highly resistant to chipping, cracking, and tearing. The contoured handle and its textured surface provide a comfortable, nonslip grip for hammering. The end of the handle is flared to prevent it from slipping out of your hand. A flat section on the top of the head lets the hammer stand upright on a work surface or the floor, making it easier to pick up the next time you need it.
