The Titan USA CD32703 is a cobalt high-speed steel stub length (screw machine) drill bit featuring a 135-degree split point and gold oxide finish, packed 12 per package. Stub length drills are shorter than jobber length, providing significantly greater rigidity and reduced deflection — the preferred geometry for CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and screw machines where minimizing tool overhang is critical to hole accuracy and tool life. The cobalt (M35) steel alloy maintains its cutting edge hardness at the elevated temperatures generated when drilling stainless steel, hardened alloy steels, titanium, Inconel, and other tough materials that rapidly destroy standard HSS tooling. The 135-degree split point self-centers on the workpiece surface without requiring a center punch, reduces walking on hard or curved surfaces, and requires less thrust force than a conventional 118-degree point — all critical advantages when drilling hard materials under controlled conditions. The gold oxide finish provides lubricity to reduce friction at the cutting edge and makes cobalt bits easy to identify and separate from standard HSS in the tool crib.
