Question 1

What is the difference between a dry suit and a wetsuit?

Accepted Answer

A dry suit is designed to keep you completely dry, while a wetsuit is designed to keep you warm. A dry suit is made of a waterproof material, such as neoprene or Gore-Tex, and it has a zipper or other closure that seals out water. A wetsuit, on the other hand, is made of a stretchy material, such as Lycra or nylon, and it fits snugly to your body. A wetsuit traps a thin layer of water between your skin and the suit, which helps to keep you warm.

Question 2

What are the different types of underwater breathing apparatus?

Accepted Answer

There are three main types of underwater breathing apparatus: open-circuit, closed-circuit, and semi-closed circuit. Open-circuit breathing apparatus is the most common type, and it works by supplying the diver with a constant flow of gas, which is typically air or nitrox. Closed-circuit breathing apparatus is more efficient than open-circuit breathing apparatus, and it works by recycling the diver's exhaled gas. Semi-closed circuit breathing apparatus is a hybrid of open-circuit and closed-circuit breathing apparatus, and it works by recycling a portion of the diver's exhaled gas.

Question 3

What are the safety considerations for underwater rescue?

Accepted Answer

There are a number of safety considerations for underwater rescue, including the diver's training and experience, the equipment being used, the conditions of the water, and the nature of the rescue. Divers should always be trained and certified before attempting an underwater rescue, and they should always use the appropriate equipment for the conditions. The water should be clear and calm, and the diver should be familiar with the area. The diver should also be aware of the potential hazards, such as currents, tides, and underwater obstacles.

Question 4

What are the most common underwater rescue techniques?

Accepted Answer

There are a number of different underwater rescue techniques, depending on the situation. Some of the most common techniques include the buddy system, the surface rescue, and the deep rescue. The buddy system is a simple but effective technique that involves two divers staying close together and watching out for each other. The surface rescue is used to rescue a diver who is unconscious or injured and needs to be brought to the surface. The deep rescue is used to rescue a diver who is trapped underwater and needs to be brought to the surface using a special rescue device.
