They can also generate the burst of power required for startup applications. Their glass mat design keeps battery acid contained while creating minimal resistance within the battery to allow higher capacity and higher discharge rates than a gel-type SLA. They also function better in cold climates than a gel battery. AGM batteries should be installed in devices that will remain upright.
