Description
The Last Year of Issue Silver Half Dollar Set includes a Silver Barber Half Dollar, a Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollar and a Silver Franklin Half Dollar. The Silver Barber Half Dollar, struck in 0.900 Fine Silver was designed by chief engraver of the U.S. Mint Charles E. Barber and was last minted in 1915. The obverse design features the head of Liberty. No other coin design captures the spirit of America like the beautiful Walking Liberty, struck in 0.900 Fine Silver. Created by A. A. Weinman, it depicts a graceful Liberty advancing toward the dawn of a new day. The Walking Liberty Silver Half Dollar was last minted in 1947. Benjamin Franklin became the first person other than a president to be immortalized on a circulating U.S. coin. Even the Liberty Bell on the reverse is a first on the silver half dollar previously silver coins featured large stylized eagles. The Franklin Silver Half Dollar was last minted in 1963.
