This Top Load Washer Motor Drive Assembly includes the motor and the motor shield. This 1/2 horsepower drive motor has two shafts - one shaft drives the drain pump, and the other shaft drives the transmission. The motor causes your washer to spin and agitate properly during the washing cycle. If your washer no longer spins or agitates, the motor may be worn out or damaged and replacing it may alleviate these issues. To access the part, you'll first need to remove the drive belt by tilting the machine back rest it on something secure or have a friend assist. Remove the drive belt at the bottom of the washer by rotate the transmission pulley counter clockwise and pulling out on the edge of the belt. Then you will disassemble the rest of the washer including the front panel. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washing machine and novice repair experience.
