The Stand Mixer Speed Control Board impacts the desired speed level of the appliance. If the contacts inside the control board also called the speed control plate aren't closing and your mixer is running loud or irregularly, or if the contacts have failed and your mixer is no longer turning on at all, replacing the control plate may alleviate these issues. To access the part remove the back cover of the mixer and the screws from the trim band. Remove the wires from the seal of the mixer in order to take the spring off of the speed control plate. Make sure you hook the spring with your needle nose pliers securely to remove. Disconnect the wires from the phase control board. You'll then be able to remove the upper two screws holding in the existing speed control plate. Note: These upper two screws are where you adjust the speed of your mixer; they should measure 3/8 from the back of their post to the back of the control board. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools and disassembly of the stand mixer. Previous repair experience will be helpful but is not necessary.
