Wood Screws

Join wood pieces together using wood screws. Wood screws have fewer threads per inch than sheet metal and machine screws and usually have an unthreaded shank. The threadless shank allows the top piece of wood to be pulled flush against the under piece without getting caught on the threads. If the wood piece you are working with will bear load, then a lag screw, which is a heavier duty version of a wood screw should be used.
