Barrier tapes are intended to create a temporary, physical boundary around a hazardous area or to restrict access. Flagging tapes are often used to mark utilities or other fixtures in the ground prior to digging

Underground tapes are buried beneath the surface to warn excavation teams of the presence of buried utilities or pipes, reducing risks to both people and infrastructure

Barrier tapes are typically manufactured from strong, durable materials such as polyethylene or polypropylene, which are resistant to tearing, abrasion, and various weather conditions

Barrier tapes often come in bright, contrasting colors such as red, yellow, or orange to increase visibility, while flagging tapes and underground tapes may use specific colors to indicate the type of utility or hazard they mark
