Precision-cut components are supplied unfinished, giving you the opportunity to complete the assembly, fitting, and finishing process yourself. As the largest chest in the Gerstner DIY lineup, the 2609 is a substantial and advanced woodworking project. It is not intended for beginners. Careful alignment, precise drawer fitting, sanding, and finishing experience are required to achieve a properly fitted result. When completed, the 2609 features the iconic Gerstner design with a front lid that locks the drawers when closed and stows neatly beneath the drawer stack when open. Inside, graduated drawers and a full-width top compartment provide organized storage for tools, instruments, and collections. Constructed from American Black Walnut and finished without stain, the completed chest will showcase the wood’s natural depth and tonal variation. Your choice of finish will influence the final appearance. Over time, walnut will gradually lighten, developing a distinguished patina unique to its environment and use.
