After 34 years as a union carpenter and 50 years of working with wood AND metal I have 'gone thru' a LOT of sawzall blades! I have found that the Lenox brand stays sharp the longest and is not prone to breaking as are a lot of the other 'name' brands.
The Lenox 6" Metal Wolf 18 Teeth Per Inch Reciprocating Saw Blades, item number 618R is an excellent blade to cut light gauge metal such as steel studs, and EMT conduit, PVC conduit and copper and aluminum THHN and wire from 500 MCM to 1000 MCM… These 6 inch blades performed as indicated, intended and expected without any problems during use. These blades would be a benefit to any job site.
I'm using the Lenox Demolition Wolf reciprocating blade to trim the end of a 6x6 wood block. Not as fast as a skill saw, but a super smooth straight cut. Virtually no saw marks in either cut face. To my surprise the blade wave edge feature seems to explain the straightness of the cut as well, no wandering, it cuts where you guide it. By cutting with light pressure the blade does the job while you can foucus on cut-line. Can't wait to try it on aluminum tubing!
