About Output Filters
Electric motors are vulnerable to the eccentricities of electrical current. Output filters (on the load side), VFD output load reactors, output line reactors, and dv/dt filters help to massage the current for optimal operation efficiency and motor protection. Output filters provide an added measure of motor protection, extending operational life of the motor. As a type of surge protection device, output filters restrict overvoltage and line distortion effects on motor cables from variable frequency devices.
