About Output Filters
Electric motors are vulnerable to the eccentricities of electrical current. Output filters (on the load side), VFD output load reactors, output line reactors, and dv/dt filters help to massage the current for optimal operation efficiency and motor protection. Output filters provide an added measure of motor protection, extending operational life of the motor. As a type of surge protection device, output filters restrict overvoltage and line distortion effects on motor cables from variable frequency devices. Products vary by type of enclosure, maximum horsepower, width and other considerations.
